So, I just bought this Asus gaming laptop. About 3 days after I got it I decided to take things apart to make sure it was all clean and working correctly. I noticed nothing wrong as I took it apart, so I cleaned it and put it back together. About 4 hours later I noticed a burning plastic smell  . I thought "Oh crap, what did i not put back  " so I took off the back cover where the smell was coming from and saw what had happened. There was a wire that was melted by the fan because the guy I bought it from did not put the wire back in the holder correctly and when I was messing with the laptop it came loose. So, the wire goes into the top panel of the laptop (the part that flips up) on the left side if you have the laptop facing you. It is the biggest wire that goes into the top panel. and I'm curious, can I fix that cable? I have money to spend on a new one and I am good with computers (so I think) but I dont know what cable I need to look for. Anybody want to help???? THANKS!

How bad was the melted wire? If I'm in your shoes, I think I would cut the wire where it was melted, and somehow try to figure out a way to reconnect them again then cover with some electrical tape =) After all, the wire seems busted for your LCD to stop working.
