    Guy,

plz help me decide between the two
I don't care much about the low memory on the Toshiba because currently i have 8GB spare so i can replace them. And i also have the corsair P256 SSD. So hardrive isn't important too.

    my importance part is that:
    1. i want a DURABLE laptop
    2. don't run hot during playing game BABY :)
    3. Screen looks beautiful plz
    4. Media. I love music and i know the Toshiba offer more connection for Music device.

    thank you

I havent seen anything about the new qosmio with the 460m, but in the reviews and whatnot ive seen for the g73jw, it maintains very low temperatures even in comparison to the g73jh.
theyve also commented on the quality of the screen, and tho i cant comment on the qosmios screen, i will say the g73 has a higher pixel density for what should be a sharper image.

    @MasterShake89
I know it will be very hard to find a comparison between the two because the Qosmio has just been released
I am the edge for the Asus G73JW-A1 now . However, i love the style of the Qosmio a lot. So if the Qosmio can play game well as the G73JW-A1 without any heat issue or other problem, then it will be my choice. But noone really owns both now.

I am sure the gaming experience will be very similar if not identical as they have the exact same cards and CPU if you opt for the 740QM version... If you opt for the lower res Toshiba you will also get better frames then the JW but you wont have full HD for Bluray etc..

I have seen the 1680x945 screen in the stores and i cant say i thought it was that great though... I have read the 1920x1080 screen is even dimmer then the lower res one so if its possible you should try to see one in person before jumping on it ..

The JW has a nice screen and all the bells and whistles you can want from a laptop but i know the Toshiba will and does have a better sound system...

the model of Qosmio is this one
Amazon.com: Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q896 18.4-Inch Laptop (Fusion Finish in Omega Black): Gateway

it has 1920x1080, blue-grey, and full HD.
The only thing which i concern right now is that i read somewhere for the review of the old model Qosmio with the old graphic card 360. Some guy said that they got bad experience during gaming with the Qosmio (the screen freezed...) and it is a little hot . Of course, i don't care much about hot because i will always put it on my table. However, I normally let my laptop run the whole day so hotness is not good for the laptop's life

I would not worry so much about the screen freezing and more about the quality of the screen itself.. Stuff happens and people get bad GPUs or Bad memory or it could be anything for that matter..

You should find the old thread on the one with the 360m as there is one in the Toshiba section and see peoples comments on the screen quality ... This should be very important to your decision..

hum, maybe i should buy both on amazon :) . Do a comparison and then return back the one i don't like :). Amazon does offer full refund and shipment.
But i do wish i had enough money for buying both.

Can someone do that for us :)? joking

I'm having a difficult time choosing between these laptops as well. I do video and audio so I think the Asus lack of ports may be a problem for me right now especially n terms of firewire. But I do know that companies are beginning to implement USB 3.0 a little more so maybe I should wait it out for the Asus? Because at the end of the day their warranty is incredible. What do you guys think because one of these will be mine soon its just really hard to make the best choice.

    Qosmio runs pretty hot:

Review Toshiba Qosmio X500 Notebook (GeForce GTX 460M) - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

"It also gets hot inside the notebook. The CPU temperatures climb up to 100°C in the stress test and settle to about 90°C in the long run. Even the GPU gets really hot with up to 90°C, but doesn't exceed a critical level. The 3DMark06 test executed immediately afterwards also confirmed this. It didn't show a divergent result (no throttling)."

Other candidates are Sager NP8760 (Clevo w870cu) and MSI GX740. Ciao.

A friend of mine here at the base has one of these, and it is just the same in speed as my G73, can not tell much between them on how they run. My Screen looks better to me , brighter and better colors , and other players saw the same thing. Now his was not bad, but side by side you could tell just by a glance that his did not have the same fullness as mine, and I have the 1600X900 version of the screen. And I like it . The other guys have the model with the 1920X1080 , just as bright but I get better fps than they do and I can not tell much between them on the detail of the picture.

But at a lan party his shut down a couple times. And this was due to heat. It gets hot and stays hot.
One of the shut downs was his power brick dropping out. He had to disconnect it and let it cool. And when he ran it on battery power it would over heat and shut down quicker if he was running a full on game with all the graphics turned up.The battery became very hot in the case while he was playing.

It does work well as it is ,but it seems to have a heat issue as not enough cooling. Also I could hear the fan running while we where playing. I could not hear my G73's fans. Well there was a couple times that it went to full speed, but it cooled down and slowed down.

His did not the whole time we where there, so it was hot.
You should find one and take a look first to see for yourself. They are not bad machines as I see it, to me they just do not have enough cooling capacity or the case is designed wrong for what they are using it for.

He was also waiting for a bios upgrade that was to help take care of some of the heat issues, but of last week he said it was still not up. So maybe this will take care of some of that, but who knows till it is tested.

One thing he did do that helped was he put a Laptop cooler that had fans under the laptop and that has helped a lot with the cooling.

Your friend should really try repasting that thing.

Anyways, the G73JW is a great laptop for the price and a really good cooling system for the most part. Though, some laptops are badly pasted and do have some cooling issues when stock, but a repaste should fix that. The screen is brilliant on the G73s, but the brightness could be a tad higher. Though, I have heard of screen bleeding issues on the g73jw.

Yeah, I said the same thing to him. Buy like ASUS if you crack the case you void the warranty.
He is working on it with there tech support .
But if it was me I would be sending it in or working on it myself .
