Alright, so this is probably available somewhere on here already but I couldn't seem to find much info on it. So the way I see it, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that every retailer for this laptop sells a configuration specific to them?

I saw this laptop at bestbuy and decided I really liked it and wanted it, did some research and found out about how theirs are gimped compared to others, was planning on buying the G73SW-XA1 on amazon tomorrow, but, with my luck they seem to have sold the last one tonight. So now I am looking at the one on Tigerdirect that is the G73SW-XT1 and the only difference from the amazon one I can tell is that it's $100 more, has a slightly smaller hard drive, and has a bluray drive.

So basically I just want to make sure I am correct about all this before I make the plunge and purchase it, are they all the exact same computer but with different spec configurations?

Thanks in advance for the help, and sorry if this has been covered on here before, but I couldn't seem to find a definitive answer.

Yep, pretty much. You can also hit the boutiques and have it customized.

    GenTechPC.com
    PowerNotebooks.com
    XoticPC.com

Benefit from these guys is the awesomeness of their support.

    Alright, thanks.

I would get it customized, but I'm in a hurry to get it asap because I am about to sell this laptop then use the money for the new one and can't really have any downtime in between without a computer. I'm pissed about amazon running out because I wanted my $4 amazon prime 1 day shipping, but now I'll have to shell out close to $50 for TigerDirect's 1 day air.

You can still hit those boutiques and get the stock one. You should get it faster that way.

Plus, a bonus of ordering via one of the boutiques is they're generally authorized resellers who can help immensely should you ever unfortunately need to RMA the system for any reason. I did RMAs with and without GentechPC's help, for example, and it was like night and day. I've been hearing glowing praise for all those resellers listed, so you'll be in good hands whomever you choose, jatoskep. :)

I concur. I've purchased both a stock unit (my old M50Vm) and a slightly upgraded unit (G73JW) from GentechPC and each order shipped very quickly. One was done online, the other by phone.
