So long story short I need another GPU for my Asus G73SW-BST6. Would the JW series 460m with the 1.5gb card work with my model ? As mine came with the 1gb 460m originally ? Another question would be if i could upgrade the GPU though i have no way to update the bios if need as i have no image.

The G53jw uses the same card to ,right?

The BST version had the gimped 128bit GPU so as long as it works you should be able to upgrade to the 192Bit version. It must be from an Asus laptop though as they are different sizes to the other 460M and I assume you may need to reflash the Vbios but that should not be a problem.

Why do you need a new GPU? Are you sure your one is blown?

so this is what i found the oem stock one (just using link for reference, the seller says its the 1.5 but its obvious the 1gb.But link has good picture of stock gpu) Ebaylink.

and heres it the 1.5gb , AliexpressLink , using it for reference not that ill buy there.

So basically i just wonder why i can find a thread of anyone trying these upgrade .cards seem to be exactly the same and use the same drivers heat sink covers the same area 1gb version heatsink Link .

Sorry fella this is going to be one of those try it and see moments I cannot remember anyone posting of doing this normally it was attempting the 560m.

In all honestly there is no reason why it should not work and if it doesn't I believe you should only need to flash the Vbios unless Asus go to the trouble of changing the BIOS in the BST as well.

So I went ahead and replaced the Stock GTX 460M 1GB that comes with the Asus G73SW-BST6 with a GTX 460m 1.5gb from a G53 that i bought of ebay for 166 bucks .It was basically plug and play. The the stock Heat Sink on the Asus G73SW-BST6 even comes with the thermal tape pre installed on the heastsink where the extra two memory modules of the 1.5 gb version go .I did have a small problem after the install but it was just the screen cable wasn't plugged in properly on the motherboard. The laptop is running fine with its new card and wow the difference is noticeable i couldnt talk benchmark wise cause I'm truly not much of a gamer but its very noticeable upgrade from a 128 bit card to a 192 bit one . So if anyone is wondering if you can upgrade the Asus G73SW-BST6 gpu from the 1gb version to the same Asus branded 1.5gb 192bit version ,You can or better put I did. Hope this gives somebody assurance needed to the upgrade or anyone in need of a replacement for the bestbuy version gpu and can't find one .
