Alright so i just got the Asus G73jh referb from Best Buy 2 days before xmas. I honestly dont know what to think about it. I play lots of games Wow, Modwarfare 2, l4d2, and others. i have a Asus essential desktop 5290, and my concern is i have the Geforce 260 gtx in my computer and it runs everything significantly better. I understand its a laptop and it wont run as good as a PC but looking at the specs their very comparable. So is their anything i can do to make the over all system run better? I updated the bios(211) and already did a system restore to have the os and everything on one partition hdd instead of the factory 2 partition ( I Think it makes programs run faster.) So i was wondering on wow i get like 30-45 fps on ultra and im kind of dumb founded (my 260 gtx gets 60 everywhere). So is their anything i can do to increase performance in wow and other games? Point being i bought this gaming laptop to game(on good settings) and im kind of at a loss of words with its performace.

Any advice would be helpful, if im being to picky let me know! Im just trying to figure out if the 900 i spent was a waste of money or what are peoples thoughts on it!

thanks for reading i look forward to any positive non-bashing feedback!

Update your vBIOS to latest beta, and then you can update your ATI drivers.

Im quite sad you are saying that because thoses sticky worth to be looking at especially if you are new with the product. Most of the issues with the G73JH can be resolved with the informations provided in thoses sticky. Lots of times and efforts in thoses guides... saying its a waste make me wonder why i should help you.

Really need a bench mark? Aside from upgrades, tweaks and stability there really are no special tricks to make the computer faster. The best thing you could do would be drop a SSD in.

I run the lastest ati drivers on the stock vbios. Everything else is stock and ive found the g73 to run everything at high settings just fine.

WOW is general is a laggy game. Especially you if are raiding. Id turn the shaders down to medium and turn the particle density down to medium leaving everything else on high/ultra. I mean i can remember standing in dalaran and it didnt matter if you were playing on a IBM super computer. You were going to lag regardless.

i play starcraft2, MW2, NFS HP, Assassins creed 2, BO, and many other games all at highest settings with no lag, all above 30fps. I'm on stock vbios and 211 bios, i have 8gb ram. Dont know what to tell you except try those tweaks in stickies because its not normal, this laptop is a beast

I agree in this forum they're very helpful, but in other forums their, a lot of times, a waste of time

its probably best to stick with the vbios in my signature till the new betas are fixed.

edit - my fault. Look for the how to fix gsod blues thread. Use that one imo.
