My G73jh was delivered to me 20 minutes ago. When I started it the first time, there was some Czech Windows 7, but I wanted the English one so I went to BIOS and changed boot options to start from CD first. Plus I switched I think ASUS FancyStart on, because I wanted to see how much "Fancy" it is. I pressed F10, saved and.... nothing. Black screen. When I start the computer, the LEDs go on, LCD doesn't turn on at all and i can't do anything. It looks like BIOS is fried or something. This just can't be, I couldn't have broken my new unhealthly expensive notebook in just 20 minutes! I tried to call the support and they told me to send the laptop back to them. If possible, i would rather avoid that. So, anybody? Is there any way to reset BIOS by som Jumper inside withoud disassebling the whole laptop? I apologise for my English.
The laptop is G73JH - TZ002Z - Fullhd, BD, 8GB RAM

Try taking out the battery, push the reset button at the bottom, plug in the adapter then give it a try. Maybe push it for a few seconds, i don't know but its worth a try.
-
Thanks, but it haven't helped. Why me?

"...so I went to BIOS and changed boot options to start from CD first."
So do you have the System Recovery CD to stick in the tray? It maybe that when you turn it on its waiting to read from the CD tray and thats why nothing shows up on screen. -
I set boot from CD, not boot from Asus CD. In every possible situation, I should be able to get into BIOS.

Sounds broken to me, sorry about it.
Only thing I could think of now, unplug and take out battery and leave it some minutes. Then plugin power and check if it's working again. -
Yeah, i have already filled the form at the ASUS site, so they'll come here for the notebook on Tuesday. By the way, how big is the chance a I get a broken one? 1:10000?
-
man! that sucks big time. Sorry to hear it.

reset bios to defaults.

happened to mine when i was playing with fancy start. I rebooted and no screen, just blue leds, no keyboard lights, and i couldn't get into the bios. I RMA'd it and they replaced the motherboard, works fone now, but this time it GSOD's. My old mobo had no GSOD issues.

Just goes to show, almost 80% of the so called utilities Asus packs its machines with are not just bloatware, but potentially a ticking timebomb in the wrong hands.
Winflash is lethal (Keyboard lights anyone?)
Update utility is a POS
Fancy start can result in NO Start (read op)
P4Gear / Twin Turbo : useless.......
come to think of it, apart from EZ flash built into the bios, ATKSD package, I can't think of a single software that came with my G73 that was actually useful.... -
Luckily I called Asus service center on Sunday to nicely ask them for a new piece instead of repair. Some guy told me that I should cancel RMA because of the notebook hasn't got broken, instead of that it was delivered to me broken already and that's something completely different. So I called to the e-shop where I bought G73JH and they agreed to send me a whole new piece just after the old one will arrive to them, so they can check if the notebook is whole with all the accesories included. I just hope I sent all thing as supposed. I just hope it will be here by Friday.
PS
Core i7 720QM, 5 days old for sale ;D -
Bad luck there dude, hopefully you get the new laptop soon. -
The story continues. When I checked UPS Parcel number, the status was: cancelled. I have almost got a heartattack. I haven't slept this night. Hour ago I called UPS and they told me they have lost the parcel number sticker, but luckily they have found the papers I filled(adress etc.) and gave me a new parcel ID. It reached it's destination 20 minutes ago.
PS
I really want to use that ASUS FancyBoot function, as I want to set some "fancy" picture during boot. Any howto? Right now I am scared to change my booting priorities, not mentioning FancyBoot. -

Dude....who cares if the few seconds to a minute before it loads up windows looks fancy or cool or unique.... it screwed you over once, how about just leaving it alone ? -
That's not my style. I have paid for that function and it works for other guys. Why shouldn't I use it as well? When you crash your car, it doesn't mean you won't drive for the rest of your life. I gonna leave it as is for this moment, because I am scared, but I am not happy about it.
