Hi all. Just recently got my Asus G73JH and so far its great. No blue screen off death yet... :). One quick question to whom have this laptop. No big deal but I am in a forum and want to know something small from others that have this laptop too.

Under the screen, bottom right, above the power button/on speaker grill, there is a faint blue light coming from under lcd bezel (from side where hinges are i guess). Light is thin and about 1/2 inch. Does anuone have this too? Is it normal? Is it supposed to be alight there??? (I DO NOT mean the light of the power button). Does this shows in your G73??? Thanks all. Just like to know for curiosity purpose. Not the end of the world!

Like underneath? Between the LEDs of the power and the other buttons on the left?

Yes, it's meant to be there.

Nope, I do not mean the long horizontal blue led that is at center below LCD. I guess there's a small opening/tiny hairline crack that is bleeding some of the blue led. Wanted to know if others show the same thing. Thanks for the reply.

Yes it is supposed to be there.

You can turn it off by pressing the first button in the upper left hand corner. I think there is three modes and one will turn it off.

No, it is not normal. There shouldn't be any light coming from the right hinge or surrounding area.

On the G73 the blue light coming from under the display is an accent light and as the prior post stated it can be disabled easily by using the illumination cancellation button on the upper left.

    Cheers,

Well, what can I say, you both got it wrong. :)

The accent light was not what the original poster described.

He's describing light coming from around the right hinge and the immediate surrounding area, not the accent light from under the middle of the display.

I suppose I should read more carefully at two o'clock in the morning. I have no such bleed through at the hinge. Perhaps turning off the accent will eliminate it if it bothers him. :)

    cheers,

Thanks all for responding. Yes, blue faint light is coming from right hinge. Weird, how can a blue light be there??? Anyway, no big deal with that. Bigger problems such as freezing has started with this laptop. Man, what happened to quality control these days????

Again, thank you all for responding.

Uninstall CREATIVE SOUNDBLASTER drivers. Should stop the freezing.

There are no lights underneath were you are explaining. You have the lights from the power button and then the LCD itself. You must be seeing some type of reflection. Take a pic if you can.

@corpfan1: Thanks. I'll try that. If there's a conflict, why the heck they dident see this???

Light might be a reflection from horizontal led, not from power button. When I turn off horizontal led only, "reflection" goes away. No big deal, just wanted to see if light was there for a reason.

    Thanks.

Because like you just found out, the problem doesn't happen right away. The specific thing to uninstall is called, "Sound Blaster Audigy HD".

You can test this by going into "Ease of Access Center" from Control Panel. If you have "Sound Blaster Audigy HD" installed your laptop will lockup. After removing, that won't happen and the lockups should disappear.

Also while I uninstalled it because I don't use EAX, some of us never encountered any hissing or issues with Steam or games with it.

I can't explain what is going on, why it effects other and doesn't with others.
    - Considering how many have bought G73 and don't uninstall it, I'm going to "assume" that the vast majority of G73 users have no problems with it.

We all customize our computers in different ways, and there are infinite ways to cause some sort of conflict. So you can't just compare one G73 to another.
