Hey guys i just came from official ASUS ROG forum as no one was helping me there so i decided to join this forum as it looked helpful to me ...so here i go:
I installed new motherboard as my old motherboard died due to short circuit in it ... i installed each and every component properly and now when i turn on the laptop the GPU fan does not spin only the CPU fan spins and i get only black screen ... i can hear the windows login sound properly and can login blindly .... i just wanted to know if my gpu dead or needs to flash vbios blindly ? any help would be highly appreciatedthanks !
EDIT: Problem solved ! GPU fan will not work if the GPU is dead ! thats all

anyone ???

Things to try:
- reset bios to defaults (pull cmos battery and hold 'on' button for ~20 seconds)
- external monitor; if this display works then it's the lcd (or its cable)
- try reseating gpu firmly; its contacts can be finicky
- last resort; bake gpu (reflows soldering contacts)
- reset bios to defaults (pull cmos battery and hold 'on' button for ~20 seconds)

Can you swap the GPU and CPU fans to see if it will spin when plugged into the other port. That will help find out if its the fan or something else.
Also can you plug into an external monitor to see if you get a picture on that.
And lastly did you get the exact same revision MoBo. -
one thing ...when i totally remove the GPU from the board both the fans spin at full speed and i can still hear the windows booting sound ... i guess its the gpu now ... dont know whats wrong with it but when i touch the thermal area of heat sink of the GPU they are also heated well

Did use the key-combo with the external monitor, right? Just to check, mind.
That both spin up when no gpu is present is normal; it's a safety feature. Since the fan's silent when gpu's plugged that means it's not entirely dead; otherwise it'd go full speed. Since the heatpipes heat up, at least the thermal interface is fine as well ... shame, because that leaves a crippled gpu.
Kinda brings back the original reason for the new motherboard; might have taken the gpu along with it. Could use a multimeter, sure, but we already know that it's drawing power; otherwise its heatpipes would've stayed cold. Also; rather difficult to access the pcb when it's plugged in socket, not to mention it'll run only for a few seconds without a heatsink attached. Easiest check would be another gpu ...
Bit of a last straw; blind-flash bios to latest version? Might as well do the gpu's vbios then, too. Don't give this much chance, though, since the same gpu worked fine before and this model only had one type of gpu (so no bios update necessary). -

Did you give the boards a good physical inspection for damage?
