    Ok here is the low down i have had the asus g73jh for 2 and half years now and for the last year its been have heating problems every time i go and game give it 10 mins and it shuts off.
    here is the following i have already done to prevent over heating:

    >once a month fully take apart and thoroughly clean it
    >change the thermal every 6-8 months
    >have a thermaltake fan under it

    everything is working fine both fans run perfectly dust free and i mean dust free im getting to the point where im about to just toss it out the door i have tried taking out the battery and just using the plug in with and external monitor so that im not using the internal one to reduce the heat. i have tried alot things that i researched but nothing seems to work

    i just did a cpu temp check while trying to game and this is what i got

    HELP!!!!

    80C seems pretty normal for a max cpu temp for the original i7 series.

    It may be your power brick struggling, or another part of the system.

    Also what temps so you see from the GPU? I would suggest installing HWINFO32 or HWINFO64 and see what the sensors dialog reports. (NOTE the 30% reading is erroneous just report the fan RPM at idle and load). What type of thermal paste did you use on the GPU and CPU and what technique (bead method...smoosh straight down, hold for about 30 seconds, then secure the HS)?

    ~~~ Meaker PowerNotebooks did a great job pasting mine with IC Diamond - ~ 2 years later < 50 C at idle and never above 75 C in game!
    That's good to hear :) Yep also worth checking those other temperatures too, HWINFO should give you that complete run down.
    Also what state are your thermal pads in, you say you do a total clean out, do you replace the thermal pads on the VRM circuitry?
