I have an Asus g73jh that wont detect hard drives in any of the 2 sata ports aviable. I tried 4 different hard drives, SSD including, and none of them are detected. The computer boots up nicelly, bios is accesible, I changed the sata type from AHCI to IDE, and viceverse, but it makes no difference. ANy idea what could be the problem ?

In the BIOS setup menu try resetting to user defaults.

If that doesn't work, try booting with no hard drives plugged in. Power it off and plug them back in.

If that doesn't work, and you recently did some disassembly, it might be that the cable between the sata board and the motherboard is not properly connected. Happened to me once, it was frightening to say the least.

Thank you for the suggestion, that was it. I had to dissasembly the laptop to find out the hard drive connector was not making full contact with the motherboard. After connecting it properly, I had no issues with any of the hard drives connected again. Thank you, you saved me a lot of headches.

I have a problem like this. Only one hdd sata port is functional. Nothing can be recognised by BIOS or OS in second sata port.

I've bought g73jh with one 500gb hdd, then changed TIM on CPU and GPU and installed ssd instead of hdd. Before this 500gb hdd was spoiled by aftermarket sata-usb adapter it was beign used for a few days that time, so the second sata port in my NB has been used slightly. Now, when a year has passed I've tried to use another one but has faced with this problem.

Do someone has an idea what might be the reason of such a fail?)

You mean the ssd is detected and not the hdd? Have you checked if the drive shows up in disk management?

I mean only one sata port is working. Now there is ssd in the first default slot, in which was hdd when I've bought NB and it(ssd) was there for about a year. Second port is not responding neither in BIOS nor in OS.
