    Hello,

I have been experiencing issues with my power supply units since I've bought the asus g73jh gaming laptop. The original adapter died, probably due to overheating and I went to a computer shop where they sold me a universal adapter (they also told me that my old adapter died due to overheating). This new adapter ( dlh ea11603) also seems to have a cooling fan in it. It's specs:
    Ac input: 100-240V
    Dc output: 18-24V 7.5a; 160w max
Now this one has been working fine for 2 years. I recently moved to the UK (from belgium) and it made some weird ellectrical noises yesterday (like when you are putting a new lightbulb in). Today when i turned the laptop on, the noise was worse and then it stopped. However, the adapter has a burning smell. The ing is, that the adapter still works.

Can I still use the adapter untill it is completely not working, or do I risk ruining my laptop? (If possible i would like to still use it today, as I am playing some games with friends tonight)

Edit: i think it is the cooling fan that is broken, since it used to make a lot of fan noise before, but now it is compeltely quiet.

When they start emitting noise its usually because of a capacitor inside of it going bad. I would stop using it right away as you dont want it to start on fire.

For your fan is it still blowing out air? If so then its still working.

No, no air is comming out. Immediwtely when I put the adapter in the burnimg smell becomes a lot worse but the power light is on.

Sounds like the fan has gone bad if there is no air being pushed out. You can get a replacement from their estore here System Fan (G73).
While you're there might as well pick up a new AC Adapter 150 Watt AC Adapter. And I would not use the computer again until you get that replaement since the burning smelling is getting worse. Buring electrical smell has never been a sign of a good thing ;)
