My laptop has always had problems. I thought I fixed it by replacing the amd 5870m graphics card. It ran very well after I replaced the card for several weeks. But now it has started to restart randomly, I can't figure out why. I can't find anything in windows bsod files or any errors in event viewer other than a kernel power code saying power was lost. The problem loops sometimes too. It will restart and before the bios even load (I have a ssd, so boot time is pretty fast) it will restart again. Could this be the video card again, or maybe even the mobo?

This could be a lot of things really, Asus notebooks tend to be really annoying to deal with because they are filled with problems, but lets just look at what we got for now.

    How are the temperatures?
    What are your current specs?

Temps are usually around 60 c when idle, up to 85c gpu and 87 c cpu at load.
    920xm cpu
8gb ram I've ran memtest for as long as possible several times.
    250gb Intel ssd
    2tb ssd/hdd seagate

You didn't tell us about your new graphicscard which you replaced the old one with.

Also, 60 at idle and 87 at load seems very wrong. Are you 100% sure about the 60c on idle or the 87c at load?

5870m it was a used one on eBay. Been awhile since I've had it on, temps are closer to 40 at idle

Ok, so you replaced your previous 5870 with the same card, can you tell us when scenarios you're running when it restarts? Is it completely random or only when you do something that puts stress on the system?

Completely random. No real pattern. Sometimes it doesn't even get past the login screen, other times I log in and use it for 1hr, other times 10min. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, it will even do it sitting idle

Do you have another power supply you could try out? It honestly sounds like your power supply is dying or you have some driver issues.
