hi i installed the hd 5870m from alienware and it worked like a charm but the colors are weird and text is kind of blurry ! i changed the cable when my original one got damaged and when i changed the cable while installing it i damaged the board and GPU too so i dont know if the new cable is ok or not i bought it home as it is ! so today as i have replaced the motherboard and the GPU(dell's hd5870m) i cannot see the colors properly as i am attaching photos for u guys to tell me if it is the lcd or lcd cable ?need suggestion guys

NOTE:when i connect it to the external monitor the colors there are perfect as normal ! so the GPU is OK

Definitely seems like the cable is not connected properly or something is wrong with the cable itself. The second picture actually looked like physical damage until I realized it was most likely the pattern on the screen.

Yes colour issues like that are usually not the panel itself, what does the bios look like?

Did you try hooking up an external display? Certainly firmware/hardware related rather than software.

This is very likely a screen problem, possibly its driver board.

The driver board I was talking about is part of the LCD screen itself.
It might be that, or something else.

Yeah, if it's just the cable then it will be an easy fix. :)

Oh wow, so the new VBIOS A01 had issues, but did you update from A00 to A01 previously before the symptom occur?

actually my original asus's 5870m died i dont know how ! so i bought a used as it is dell's 5870m ! in the start i thought my lcd cable is damaged because on external display it was showing proper colors except on internal lcd ! so i ordered a new lcd cable and tried on that but it didnt work and then i read on alienware's thread that its the issue with the REV A01 compatibility with G73jh ..in order to make the laptops's internal lcd screen u have to flash the Vbios of A00 to make it work and thats what i did ! i can provide the vbios if anyone want it ! well since i have attached my internal display i am noticing strange behavior of gpu clocks ! on battery they dont go up more than 300 core clock and 400 memory clock even if i turn on a game ! i have edited the power management profiles but not luck ! and whenever i connect the charger with the laptop the gpu clocks go to 405 core clock and 1000 memory clock and when i turn on the game it goes to 700/1000 and i can play nicely ! dont know what the issue with the battery mode !

Cool, glad you got it working. When installing a new GPU display issues can easily be firmware related.

That's a lot trickier due to the murky world of HDCP.
