So Tigerdirect has this on sale for 1499.99
    ASUS G73JW-XT1

Is that a really good deal? How does it compare to the other ASUS G73JW models?

From what I can see, the main difference is the XT1 doesn't come with a second hard drive. Minor difference from the standard A1 would also be the exclusion of the Targus backpack and the gaming mouse. It's a pretty good deal, especially if you have a second hard drive lying around already (or plan to get a SSD). Note, however, that because it doesn't ship with a second drive it will also be missing the mounting brackets, which can be a pain to find. Check the various threads on the G73; I know someone has posted the link to the brackets somewhere.

Also I don't think it comes with the same warranty you would get from xoticpc, powernotebooks, gentech. They are a little more expensive but the additional coverage will definitely pay off

If you buy from Tiger Direct, Circuit City or CompUSA you still get the 2 year warranty and 1 year accidental. The warranty card says that if you register within 60 days you get an extra year of accidental making it 2 years. I called to try and confirm this and Asus said yes to getting 2 years accidental but I am going to call again today to reconfirm.

I have the XT1 model and bought it over the A1 because I already had a mouse, bag and HDD for it. If you plan on buying another HDD and need a bag and mouse the A1 might be a better option for you and you get that all important elusive bracket. The price and hassle for getting the extras on your own just about make it the same price as the A1.

I am still looking for a damn bracket for my XT1......

Thanks. I already have 3 laptops and two desktops at home. I don't really _need_ this... but dang it's tempting :)
