Is the HDD the 1st boot device in BIOS?
Try install Soluto, it will give some details which task delay the boot..

I would look at your BIOS settings also - and reset to defaults unless you have made tweaks there that you really need. Also check that there is no CD/DVD in the optical bay.

Is your Momentus XT latest firmware?
    Is the S.M.A.R.T fine ?
Is your HDD benchmark average with other Momentus XT result ?

My non-Momentus 7.2krpm hard disk takes only 51-52s according to soluto. Disable all processes that you don't need/use. I've done that. There is a thread somewhere here which gives us tips on how to boot up faster. I've done all that except disable sleep/hibernate and system restore. Try it and see if it helps.

A clean install would be an universal solution.

Get an SSD then soil your pants with 10 second boot ups.

Which OS you have? (Home, Pro...)

If you have WIN7/VISTA it might be an error/bug on your cd.
Try to install Win XP and check if it boot faster. If not, maybe the HDD broken or somthing...

Best way is to buy SSD! (and install the OS on it)

What boot up times are you people with ssds getting? I'm planning on getting an Intel 320 120gb ssd. I have a normal 750gb 7200rpm Seagate which gives me a boot up time of 51-52s on an average.

10-12 seconds with my SSD. Blows my old HDD away.

With the JH, I get about 45 seconds to a working desktop. I have some of the bloat still installed and 72 processes running before opening any apps.
Do all the intel owners know about the new toolbox 3.0.1 ? It eliminates the need to put firmware updates on CD!

45s with an ssd? Isn't that awfully slow? I get a workable desktop in 52s max. Much less than that actually cuz that's the time that soluto shows after all processes etc are running.
