    Asus G73SW 17.3" 3D FHD/i7-2630QM/6GB/500GB/Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit | Tuotekuvasto | Verkkokauppa.com

Gta 4 lags too badly to play even with worst video settings, vlc, gom and windows media player classic lag too much when watching dvd or divx movies(windows media player works) Battlefield bad company 2 works but could work a little better. I tested my laptop with 3dmark 11 and here is the results

    Result

it said that everything is normal, but the video lagged all the time. I have downloaded and installed the newest nvidia drivers and have installed other updates with asus automatic update. What could be the problem?

    Thank you.

For the video problems, try installing this and using the included Media Player Classic to play videos: CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack

As for the games, the G73sw has an issue with throttling the CPU and ASUS hasn't addressed the issue. Luckily, it's an easy fix. Download Throttlestop here: Downloads | Tech|Inferno

Run it just once on boot (don't change any settings, just run it) to keep the CPU from throttling. Alternatively, just have it run at startup and keep it running...it's not very resource intensive.

GTAIV works fine for me, so give it a shot and see what happens.

throttlestop worked! thank you for advice, still it lags with high settings(but nothing like before), but its ok, because it works well with low settings. I ran it(throttlestop) at startup. Btw. what do you mean "run it just once on boot"?

The video codec and media player classic did not work, videos still only play well with windows media player

You could also give Zoom Player a try: Inmatrix.com - Zoom Player Download

I've been using Zoom Player to play all kinds of videos on my G73SW and they all run perfectly. Since you've already gotten the codec pack I linked to, you don't need to run install center in Zoom Player (it will ask you about it during installation).

Also, could you describe the video problem a bit more? Are the videos choppy/audio out of sync with video/etc?

By "once on boot" I meant that you only really need to open and close the program once every time you boot up your computer, since the changes it makes aren't kept after the computer is shut down. As I mentioned, though, I prefer to just have it run at startup so I don't forget it.

Ok. Thanks for answers, dvd:s and divx are choppy, laggy(except on windows media player) but the audio is not out of sync. Youtube videos run well except they too have the same problems as dvd:s and divx when ran on full screen. Now I tried zoomplayer and it works great!

How did everything on your computer run before you installed GTA 4? What other programs are you running for video?

Everything was normal, But, I didn´t watch videos before I installed gta4. I used vlc, gom and windows media player classic, those didn´t work well. Normal windows player works and now zoomplayer works. youtube videos don´t work well when ran on full screen, but I don´t usually watch youtubevideos on full screen.

now I tried mkv files and they dont work on any player, the video skips 5min forwards every 5 secs or so. I called asus help and they told me to update chipset, bios and put the older nvidia drivers back(from asus website).so i did those(except the bios update from asus site was older then the bios in the computer so It didnt install). what should I do? does anyone else have the same problem?
