I bought the Asus G74 almost a month ago now and I am having a few problems with it. Every so often my PC locks up but not completely (I can still move the mouse but it will freeze for about 10 seconds then I can move the mouse for a second or two then it will freeze again). I though this was first related to the audio drivers so I tried uninstalling the Realtek drivers and using the windows generic driver but it doesn't seem to help. Here is a copy of the Event:

I purchased this laptop on July 11th and since then it has happened 13 times, including the first day I bought it. Should I return this and hope I get another one that is working properly or is this a problem with the G74?

Could be video card for the drivers, you can try reinstall from the drivers DVD.

also try remove one stick of RAM at a time to test the system.

Does it have the 500 gb hybrid drives in it?

If it does i would be willing to bet it is those drives waking up.. or something. i read somewhere that there are some updates for the hybrid drives...
I took mine out because they didn;t seem any faster than a standard drive and i had a SSD ready to go in.

If you don;t have these drives athen disregard my comment.

I set my PC to shutdown instead of going into sleep mode when I press the power button and this seems to have fixed the problem. I ordered 8GB of RAM to see if the problem lies in the crappy Samsung RAM they put in the G74.

I have the same problem with my new G74. I do not know what is wrong. Did you find a solution?
