I just got the G74 from Best Buy yesterday and I notice that when I click on something like a folder it will make a pop sound. Its not very loud and it still does it when I have the volume muted or something plugged into the headphone jack. Any idea what this is and how to fix it?

EDIT: It doesn't do it all the time, but enough to have cause for concern.

Is it a high pitch whine or buzzing sound?

Does it happen when you try to scroll on a page and hear a whirring sound?

No its a very faint pop sound, and it only happens when I click to open a folder or sometimes when I hit the Back or Forward button.

I tried unplugging all USB devices and uninstalling Creative, but the problem is still there.

EDIT: I disabled all the sound devices and it doesn't do it anymore. Does this sound like a driver issue?

Ok I uninstalled all the sound drivers and deleted them from my system and I am now using the generic audio drivers and the problem seems to be fixed. This looks like the problem is with the NVIDIA Audio Drivers that come preinstalled on the computer.

The only nvidia audio drivers are for the HDMI-Out.

You probably only needed to mute the mic input, or the drivers were configured to playback sounds of some line input. Check the REALTEK Audio app for configuration. (The orange speaker icon in your tray)

Yeah sorry I meant the realtek drivers. While using the generic audio drivers it was working fine, however, I reinstalled the Realtek drivers and the problem is back. I also tried muting and disabling the mic and I also tried disabled all audio devices and it still does this. It seems the only way to prevent it is removing the Realtek drivers completely. I tried watching a movie with the generic drivers and I was getting a lot of distortion, almost to the point that it sounded like a speaker was blown. Is this just the G74 speakers or is there a problem? I just upgraded from the G73 and the sound quality was 10x better than the G74.

Awesome! Disabling power management did the trick. Thanks.
