I bought one of these models from Best Buy, about a month ago, each time I've had something wrong with it. It's the same problem with the crtl keys. Geek Squad told me it was a hardware issue but it's happened in every computer that I've exchange the last one for. I've already returned and exchanged it out four times. I checked the other forums for this issue but no one else seems to be having problems with this.

While I'm using the computer it will randomly act as if the crtl buttons are being held down. I can't type because it always links up to the shortcuts. It will not let me use the keyboard or anything in a normal manner. I have to restart the entire computer just to have a normal keyboard again. I do not have sticky keys on, I updated and all of that. I tried using the on screen keyboard while it doing this. However the on screen keyboard had both ctrl buttons highlighted to say they were in use and would not let me unselect them.

When I took it back to Best Buy the first time it happened, they said it was a hardware issue and I just keep having to exchange it. I'm really tired of exchanging it, I had to disable the ctrl keys just to get it to stop.

What could I be doing wrong, is anyone else having this issue? Is there anything anyone knows of which could fix this?

I also sometimes have that, but on a normal office PC. I connect that to either the mouse driver, keyboard driver, windows bug or some printer driver. But yeah, I know the issue and had it quite often on my office PC. Mostly happening while browsing in an Internet or Windows Explorer.

No solution though and it didn't happen the last few months.

I'm having a keyboard issue with g74sx too. Some keys (especially spacebar) ignores pretty often.. just not sure if its the driver or the hardware issue.

I have the spacebar issue too.

I just installed the 1.0.00010 drivers (the ones in the CD are 1.0.00008)... restarting...

    Edit: restarted.

    Testingipsum dolorum. Nope.

    Broken.

Here we go again with the key lag issue. After applying 1.0.00010, I typed up a full page of text, and I only had a couple of typos, and spacing wasn't an issue. It was really laggy before the update.

However, there's some work being done to address any issues with the keyboard and/or trackpad, so just hang in there and wait for an update. :)

I read in another website linked in a different thread here (the numlock thread) that the problem seems to be with the physical space bar mechanism -- it doesn't seem to provide sensitivity to part of the space bar.

I have noticed myself that the space bar always works in the center but often it does not register on the sides. Bad.

Hi, I had a similar issue about a month ago with the control key locking on my G74SX-BBK7.

It occurred a couple of times a day while playing Warcraft.

I was lucky enough to figure out that the issue was caused by an older version of the "Recount" plugin.

If you're playing WoW, try downloading the latest version of Recount or removing. I grabbed a newer version and the control lock issue went away.

    Hope this helps...
