Asus is soon out with new hardware in the G75 series.
Several stores have listed it, and it is called "Asus Notebook G75VX-T4020H". It comes with the newest 45W Quad core 3630QM (faster than 3610QM) and most importantly GTX 670MX.![]()
We don`t know much about this GPU since its brand new and have never been tested, but the GTX 675MX have been. And its 20-30% faster than GTX 675M so one should assume that the GTX 670MX will be atleast equal as powerful as the GTX 675M if not 5-10% faster![]()
GTX 670MX will be atleast 20% faster than GTX 670M which the G75 features now. But since its a Kepler it will be equally as cool as the 670M if not cooler![]()
Here are a few links to stores that have listed the notebook.

Notebook ASUS 17.3" G75VX-T4046H - Pletikosa

$2500 too, if that happens, I'm sad to say I'll be switching over to a xfire Clevo for the same price. I really want to see a new Radeon in a G-series
-
Thats european price. Usually if its €1999, its going to cost roughly $1999 in US.
Asus have swore to never offer any AMD GPUs after previous mess, so don`t count on any AMD GPUs inside the G75 yet.
This notebook is going to rock btw. GTX670MX will crush the GTX 670M I bet. -
Also, the 670mx will be better than the 670, but its still not a 675m, nor is it a 680m. I like that nvidia is doing a refresh of the fermi to kepler (better temps and better performance), but I feel like it should have been that way from the beginning.
Edit: From my last paragraph, I feel bad for the people that preordered the 75 and are stuck with the fermi rebadges. They also probably won't even get optimus when the 670mx comes out. -
I don`t remember the specifics, but Asus is Nvidia exclusive and have been for a while now. Not just G-series either but pretty much all models in their catalogue. There is a good reason for that I guess.
Also, I think the 670MX will match or even beat the 675M with lot less heat.
"but I feel like it should have been that way from the beginning"
They offered Kepler from the beginning. 660M, remember? The next jump from that is 680M. That card alone cost $800. Too expensive for Asus core values, and probably a lot more that we don`t know of. Now Nvidia is out with the middle ground between 660M and 680M that fits Asus with price/thermals and they are fast with a new model with this new hardware.
Nothing to complain about.
Although I do wish they could introduce a hardcore model that featured 680M for the elite gamers -
Here is a cheaper model than the three above. Its without an SSD. With Windows 8 btw.

I hope they use optimus in the future
-
How much?!!!
Ridiculous pricing for a mid range card with a boost. How can Asus be pulling a profit anymore when G73JH owners have twice the power by upgrading.
Clevo EM model with 3720QM, 680M, 8GB, SSD in the UK only comes to £1500 or e1800. -
Nvidia just lifted the NDA. Here is some information about the GTX 670MX which the G75 will have soon. Looks just about to be as powerful as the GTX 675M
-
Asus is a huge AMD partner, one of the biggest and Asus has in the past even marketed that they get the earliest samples from AMD first as one of their premiere partners. Asus past fastest GPUs have used AMD, their Ares for example. And they still continue to release super clocked/volted AMD GPUs, and of course they have AMD motherboards, tons of them.
Asus also has LOTS of AMD notebooks using AMD APU and GPUs. So very wrong there too. As for the 5870M, that was completely Asus's fault. It was their choice to bork it with their custom boards, hardware fixed voltages which ended up with numerous issues that Dell, MSI and Clevo didn't have.
As for Nvidia, Asus has more ways to make money with them as Nvidia just loves to release the same hardware with 128bit or 192bit or with 1.5GB ram or 4GB ram, etc. This makes it so much easier for Asus to sell different models for stupid prices.
Asus has become a very greedy company IMO. It's all about the money. Their high performance gaming machines are among the biggest, heaviest, clunkiest, with least features, least ports, and poor performance for the money. Between Asus, MSI, Clevo and Alienware, I'd rate Asus the lowest if you are looking to spend $1500+ on gaming machine.
If anyone reading this thread is smart, you're better off contacting Larry @ LPC-Digital who can get you the best price on a 17" Sager that has a better matte screen for brightness, contrast, gamut, and more USB ports, USB/eSATA hybrid, an active power on USB port, multi-color keyboard that is much more robustly built, smaller, lighter, easier to access parts, better GPU, and better overall service for less. Sager RMA is free 3-day shipping both ways and they usually fix within 2 working business days. Asus is ground shipping and wait 4 weeks for them to fix it. Sager/Clevo actually provide updates for the BIOS and you can upgrade your GPU. The benefits of dumping Asus is countless. -
Well I personally like the look of the G-series and the "freshness"
And their cooling is known for their silent operation. Clevo/Sager on the other hand is noisy. So I guess its individual about the brand hulawafu.
Clevo is #1 with hardware thats for shure. Asus is more for the middle man who don`t want the best of the best -
Clevo/Sager is not noisy and is on par with the cooling sound of the Asus mainly because it runs so cool it does not need the fans running flat out and they turn off, not to mention it is cooling hardware twice as powerful.
The G series "freshness" cool looks and shape and design excuse is running very thin indeed when you pay an extra £500 for the luxury.
If you want noisy you should hear my M11x or an M14x for that matter, not a Clevo. -
Asus is way ahead of the competition here. Probably one of the reasons why they never go for the most hot GPUs -
-
I had 170EM for few weeks and I sold on ebay. Why? Problems with enduro, poor keyboard and noise under load. When not gaming is silent because gpu fan not running.Read reviews and look at noise level.Clevos are around 50db.
My current G75 with GTX670 give me same fps as 170Em with 7970 because problems with enduro.G75 have much better keyboard,it is silent and for me looks better. It is very easy to take apart.I already did that few times.I lube fans and remove mesh sticker from top of the fan for better air flow.I also remove filter. The only problem is that when taking apart fan I must glue them with crazy glue (no screws on fan)
I don't want turn this into clevo vs asus but these are my experience with both laptops. Also I had G73SW gtx460. -
Its spouting nonsense like this that causes people to go with Asus and fork out thousands for something less powerful than its quality counterpart.
In regards to the above stay well away from the Clevo/Sager 7970M and go for the 680M which is the monster of monster's Nvidia have proven that they own the war at the moment. Sadly for us AMD supporters. -
There are so many reviews and articles and forum posts out there that both describe the Sager fan noise and have measured the actual dB levels. There are even youtube videos where people complain about the fan noise. So yeah, when there seems to be an unanimous conception that the Sager is NOISY, I`m sorry, I don`t believe any word of what you are saying. There are even numerous forum posts in this very forum that complain about the fan noise.
As loudness there is an agreement that
Clevo > MSI > Alienware > Asus
And like I said in the last post, I talk about 15" and above. Not Alienware M14x or M11x. So I don`t care about your M14x. I`m well aware that for example the M14x with GT555M was noisy as hell. But it doesn`t matter, since it only have 1 fan and its below 15".
As for the price complaining that Asus is more expensive, I give you that, its true. But you don`t decide what people use their own money on. There are more things than hardware that counts. Looks, noise, build quality, warranty etc etc. Yeah looking at hardware isolated, Clevo is the cheapest. I paid $2300 for my MSI GT70 with 680M, and you can get a Clevo for around $1800 with the same hardware. But MSI is superior with a lot of other stuff which I won`t go on about here.
I don`t understand why you are even here in the Asus forum trying to convince people to buy Sager instead. Let us have this thread to discuss the G75 with the 670MX. -
You think MSI is not louder? Pure Comedy. When it has one fan to cool both the CPU and GPU and a turbo boost button when it overheats. I rest my case.
I spent the first 3000 posts on here supporting Asus when the G73JH was on the scene so hold your tongue you would be stupid to think I did not support Asus and as I sold my "Clevo" not Sager I do not see how fighting against your absurb noise comments when you do not even own one is trying to convince people to shop elsewhere. Asus however have never improved they sit in the mid range and charge a customer a pretty penny for the dribble that you come out with claiming the additional premium is worth less power for looks and a stealthy noise output.
For the record look up you started flaming Clevo for the noise not me, I said the price was ridiculous on the other page which it is. So I agree why don't you let this be about the G75 with a 670MX.
-
so is there going to be a refresh on the 3d version of the G75 also?
I really want a 3D laptop with a matte screen, and this is the only option out there, but that 670m is alreay outdated.
Do you guys think they will eventually release a G75 with the 680m? Like next year?
Thanks in advance for the info. -
The MX is kepler so new hardware the 670M is just a relabeled 40nm card so expect a big jump in performance. 3D has been on the cards with all previous Nvidia models so most likely a possibility. -
For the price Asus is charging, they should have at least a 675MX, especially when their competitors offer so much more for the same price. No matter how awesome it may look, 99% of the time you will just be looking at the keyboard and the LCD, not the back cover or the vents.
Oh and all their competitors have 4+ hours of battery, Asus, don't even bother going on battery. -
I agree that they should be using the 675MX.
Let's be 100% real here. We're going into Q4 of 2012, and they're just now excelling a little bit past the performance of the GTX 570M (forget the 670M nonsense please).
It's clear that they have the cooling solutions ready for beefier GPUs, so what's the hold up? I 100% guarantee I'd be a customer, if they got back into offering top tier graphics cards. -
Does anyone know if the G75 is Muxless or whatever such that it wouldn't have all the Enduro issues of Clevos? -
-
I`m not shure what is stopping them. I tried talking with the Asus reps, but they said there were a lot of things involved. I asked them to be more specific but they wouldn`t say.
Heat management, check
Enough room in the chassis, check (They would still have to make their own wierd MXM card though lol)
180W power adapter for the system, check
MXM module giving enough power, not shure
7970M is $100 more than 670MX. But like I said earlier in this thread, the G-series looks to be Nvidia exclusive now.
675MX is $100 more than 670MX, so I don`t understand why they won`t do this. You get 25%ish better performance with 675MX for a small extra fee. The only thing that separates 670MX and 675MX is the memory bus. 192bit vs 256bit and that makes all the difference. I guess you can overclock the memory on the 670MX to make up for some of it though.
680M is $350 more than 670MX so probably too steep price for the G-series I guess.
That said, you do get around a 15% increase over the 670M with the 670MX though. I guess its atleast some improvement -
They wont use AMD and that would be the only cost effective way for them to go high end so instead they stay mid range and charge high end prices. The 680M is probably double the cost of a trade price 660M and 670M (40nm) and as long as people buy their models and make them obscene profit why change it.
What the customer wants the customer does not always get with Asus and even when they do release something with a bit more oompf like the 675MX they up the price by an absurd amount. Profit, Profit, Profit. -
I am about to pull the trigger on the G75 with the 670M but I may hold off since the refresh is coming. The question is whether the wait is going to be months or weeks!
-
They are all delivered with Windows 8 so I guess Asus have to wait until Microsoft have released the operating system, which is October 25th. Both MSI and Asus will be out with notebooks with the new GPUs around that time I guess. Asus with 670MX and MSI with 675MX.
Amazon have the Asus listed btw
http://www.amazon.de/Notebook-G75VX-T4020H-3630QM-GeForce-GTX670MX-3GB/dp/B0099XFZE0 -
Yes, it will definitely be on or after the launch of Windows 8.
I am thinking the current version may be heavily discounted when the 670MX model comes out. I would imagine the current version will then be alot more value for money than the refresh. A 20% or so performance increase may not be worth the extra bling. -
Asus just updated us a little from their ROG forum
Sounds interesting, they also said that some other hardware will be included with the upcoming G75VX. Wonder what that is
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?23782-Coming-Soon-G75VX&
-
Good response about the pricing of the 680M from Asus but the TDP and heating issue is rubbish it is about money. The 150EM is barely different in size and works perfectly.
What they meant to say was " As we charge a stupid amount of money for the mid range cards we currently sell, we would probably have to charge customers around $3000 for the high end market to make the same profit "
Then no one would bother buying one. -
Thanks for the update Cloudfire.
If the announcement is still a month away, and it will take another 2-3 weeks for retailers to have stock, and a further week for delivery, I think we're all looking at early December. Surely they'll bring it out before the Christmas holidays. -
-
I really think for me, not as a hardcore gamer, the 670M should be suffice. I however do have the tendency to want the best when I don't really need it.
Most likely they will include a thunderbolt port, which again, isn't all that vital to me.
I need to make up my mind I think! -
670M: Its weaker, its runs much hotter, its the old Fermi, and its already an overclocked 570M which means there isn`t much room for overclocking. With 670MX which is a Kepler, you will have TONS of overclocking possibilities. Just look at the 680M and how much you could overclock it with very little temperature increase.
I would never buy the 670M if I had the option to wait a month for the 670MX today. I`d literally throw my G75 out of the window in anger if I accidentally bought the G75 with 670M and just stumbled upon this thread today.
My 50 cents -
And to top it off I have two new release dates arriving this week...
-
Guys, if you want the 675MX instead of the 670MX in the upcoming G75 (we are talking 20% better performance while the same heat here!!!), now is your chance in the thread linked to further down.
I said my opinion in the ROG forum and the Asus people have not responded or denied my request. I guess they might see my point and won`t publicly announce the change yet. Or they are waiting for more people to chime in with their approval of the idea. I`ve been attacked by some Asus fanboys but I tried to shoot them down
Please take some time and post your opinions here:
Coming Soon: G75VX -
I just read that thread Cloud, I think Asus company are being smart but at the same time cheap and lazy vatos lol no offense, one of the fanboys claim that Asus will overheat or is too small for a GTX 680m but then a smaller thinner NP9150 was able to fit a gtx 680m. That's like saying i can fit in 100 people in a medium size church but then they can't suddenly fit in 100 people in a different church but a bigger size than the medium church at that and that is seem to be the logic they are using here lol
I think Asus is trying to gain huge profit at a small expense by going with soldered gpu instead of the mxm. -
I was actually rather surprised to find this considering the many other models we carry that do have switching graphics.
As far as cooling goes, they stay cool only because they are using a 75W card instead of the 100W card. We have found a few running Furmark that will get just as warm as any of the competitor laptops. -
Let's make a PETITION for GTX675MX?!?! No one wants and hope for GTX680, but at least GTX675MX!!! Asus should make options for customers! Who has money and will might buy the laptop which he wants! It will be like current one. GTX660 AND GTX670!
My dream is actually 18.4' screen Asus Rog -
-
Doing all of these will be cheaper than a new laptop, but it's pretty risky if you aren't confident you can do it. I think the point is that this older laptop (the 73jh) can still be upgraded to *better* than what Asus currently sells as their "top of the line" model for cheaper. -
Right now there is no real reason to buy a 660M or a 670M version of G75. True, 660M can be forced to OC with very good level of performance. 670M can OC in a more normal way, being even better than stock 675M in bechmarks, but not in all real life scenarios due to hardware limitations (same with 660M versus 670M). 670M is not as hot as people might think, but since there will be a new better GPU on the way with great OC potential (I've heard the BIOS will still be locked so this might be a sign of excellent OC), you guys should wait. And it's not only the GPU. There will be a better CPU, thunderbolt and other minor fixes and updates.
As it is now, G75 cannot accommodate a 675MX or 680M. Asus will not redesign the entire laptop for this. Maybe next year a new model will be out with a better GPU. There are better options from Clevo and co. But not all the G75s are very expensive. I got mine around 1k with 670M in it that works very well (3d11 around 4k mark). Not bad at all for this price and still the laptop is warm. CPU tested at ~3.3 Ghz all cores, rock solid. I'm happy with it. Temp wise it should do more, but after that it throttles, so it could be a voltage thing and I'm not going to fiddle with it anymore.
What I hate is the screen lines, but that is another story. -
-
I've bought my G53 back in Nov 2010. I'll wait until Nov 2013 and buy a G57/G77 with Haswell and GTX 770M in it. Although this 670MX refresh makes my fingers itchy
-
Unsure what model you have assuming it is the G75 with a 660M GT which as you say there is no reason to upgrade, after spending that much money damn right. -
Some Australian reseller have listed the notebook. Mind you that this notebook also comes with 256GB SSD, so you should expect a lot cheaper G75 with 670MX without an SSD.

I still have my G73JH-A2 with me which is about 2 years and 3 months old. Only problems I had with it were the lousy touchpad, a non-functional battery LED light (which I replaced with a spare I bought from an NBR member), and a single bright dot on my LCD. Since the ATI 5870m, I believe Asus didn't release a G-series notebook with a high-end GPU that's appropriate for the beast.
Other than Asus, My next option would be a Sager or as a last-resort, the Alienware. If only Sager has a service center here in the Philippines, I would definitely consider switching from Asus to Sager. Being able to upgrade the hardware and the price-performance ratio is what matters to me now. I'd forget Asus' form-factor and warranty if Sager has a service center at my countryThough I'm still loving my G73JH at the moment =)
Going back to the topic, it would be great if Asus would include Nvidia's Optimus on their upcoming releases as Sager has those. -
When these MX graphics will be available in G series?
Also I hope that next G series will come with optimus.I want optimus button next to power button.
Asus G75 soon out with better GPU
