I just bought a samsung 840 evo, and I want to install it into my drive. My only concern is that it is a 7 mm and the drive is a 9 mm if I remember correctly. There is two rubber strips on the laptop which should raise the ssd, but I am not 100% sure.

IIRC one (or both) drive bays on the G750JX come with brackets - i.e. you screw the SSD/HDD in the bracket and then the bracket to the chassis. The fact that your drive is 7mm shouldn't matter, as the screws should align. Mind you, this is theoretical - I don't have a 7mm drive to test with.

The screws in a cage would not care about a 7mm drive, so you should be good.
