Looks like it is finally here in America and can be picked up at Best Buy for $1249 plus state tax and has the new Geforce GTX 670mx.

Also Amazon has them but it cost $1,499 and also Hidevolution which you can customize.

For around $1,250-1,400, the GTX 670mx is indeed the right performance/power to price ratio. Which is why I hope a lot of folks didn't purchase a G55/G75 in the previous month or couple of months to pay for a GTX 660m in the upper $1,200+.

To me GTX 660m should be around $900-1,100

I picked this monster up yesterday at Best Buy. Great machine. Only wart is the slow hard drive which was quickly remedied by my SSD. I know there are more powerful boxes out there...but for $1249...this is a beast. Of note, the screen on mine is epic. Very bright with excellent color reproduction.

I went by Best Buy and checked it out. Seems like a solid machine. I really like the build and look of the Asus. I even contemplated sending back the laptop i just bought for this one. I just cant get passed the 670mx. Granted it is a nice step above the previous 660m. I wish Asus would step it up to the 680 and id be sold in a heart beat. Great looking machine, I cant wait till sold results are out and hopefully before my return period of the laptop i bought. I wouldnt mind saving $1200 dollars and getting this machine.

    Anyone got any BF3 numbers?

    Hi.
Can You check if yours unit has screen frame sticking out on bottom/sides (with massive light bleeding) of the screen .
I've purchase this model today i had to return it, because problem with terribly assembled frame on screen (second unit checked by BB employe, had exactly same problem).

my brother just bought the g75vw 3d version from best buy and i was curious how the performance difference is b/w the vx and wx models? may need to encourage him to return it and pick up the 670mx kepler unit instead. then again, maybe he just likes the 3d screen where the 670m fermi isn't a problem.

Well I bought a Samsung np770Z5E from best buy yesterday. Good machine has a 8770m in it, but I think something is either wrong with it or that gpu just is not powerful. I will be returning it. I wanted something I could play games on, but didn't have to be state of the art as I have a good desktop for gaming. I saw the G75vm and was impressed with it, but it is just so large. I guess it is either go big or go home. The also had the 46vm - which has the i5 and a gtx 660. Screen quality was not so good 14" 720p displays where the colors looked washed out. At this point though for what I want to do, I am tore between those two models.

Well, I went to two more BB stores (in Chicago area), and new G75VX on display in them, got exactly same problems with poor quality frame around screen (flex, gap, light bleed). Strange thing is, that G75 (with GTX 660M) in TigerDirect, has non of those problems, frame feels different (better quality plastic?), and upper part has four rubber bumpers (only two in BB model).
So my purchase was postpone, until different store will get version with GTX 670MX, so I can compare quality to BB model.

    Edit:
Just found this thread on ROG forum:

I've returned laptop to BB (was upset and forgot take pictures-my bad).
But if I have time, will stop at BB to take some pictures using my phone (quality may not be that good).
Or, you can ask somebody on ROG forum (from link I posted), to do that.

Haven't played with the g75 but loved my g73... as to the screen on the g46, out of the box it is in bad need of a calibration. It can be improved quite a bit. I had to change the colors and saturation, but once complete it does look noticeably better. It is also a matte screen, so won't ever be as vibrant as a glossy but is much better under bright lights. Really a matter of how big of a machine you want. The new g75 is a sweet beast for the money, and the g46 is an amazing amount of performance and cooling for the size.

    Good luck!

I've read it's up to about a 25% improvement, is that incorrect? I haven't heavily researched it.

Also it gives it a better battery life. As ASUS doesn't use optimus technology it actually helps.

Any idea why Optimus isn't included? I had no idea it wasn't.... it has worked great on my G46, keeping the Nvidia GPU idle most of the time other than playing games. Battery life is fantastic on account of that, curious, why wouldn't they include it on the new G75VX? This has been my first experience with Optimus, but can't imagine going back to having to always run the dedicated GPU. I do use my laptops on the go part time, including my retired G73... better battery life is always a plus.

Asus have done a few odd things when it comes to enabling technologies (most of their machines don't support caching though the mSATA for instance), though optimus does limit the monitor output capacity and has a small performance impact.

I saw the BB model yesterday and was impressed with the speed and build. I did see a issue where the bottom of the display was not snapped in at all and I tried to snap it in and only got it part of the way together. That bothered me a bit. Either way I was impressed. If I had to get one probably order it.

    Here some pictures.
You can see in screen corner frame is tight, then starts to bends:
    another angle showing gap:
in unit I was taking pictures, right side of screen (middle part) looks like wasn't flat (or maybe it was also frame problem):

Sorry for not best quality, but that was best I could do.

I just picked up one of these at Best Buy Friday.. Mine is perfectly fine and had the newest bios on it already so I guess it was fresh from the factory. Anyway I am supposed how well the 670mx runs BF3. I liked it so much I'm sending my gt70 back. Not enough different between the 670mx and 680 to justify the $2k difference I paid.

Yeah, I bought the Dragon Edition. Best Buy recently got the new vx in, I had $500 gift card from Christmas and $200 in reward zone dollars so only came out of pocket $500... So Amazin is taking back the gt70. From what I've seen and played msi difference is hd access. So I can add a couple ssd's in raid 0 and still pocket buncha cash.

That I'm not sure. Ill have to check. The gt70 is raid 0 and fast! My desktop is raid 0 and very fast. I might just stil with single sad in the laptop. The laptop isn't my daily machine it's used every now and then.

I have the screen bleed on my monitor as well though I only see it when on Sim City. It's not always apparent and I believe its only on one or two screens. I also can't see it when I have movies playing or in any other scenario. There are no gaps in the bezel either and the screens great otherwise. My model is the BB one as well.

Finally went in bought it from Best Buy. Out of 4 stores in 30miles only two stores have 1 in stock :p.
As soon as 256gb SSD is installed, copied all my games into it. Only plated WoW, Rift and Hitman:Absolution on high/ultra settings combo.

If I keep everything on Ultra fps seems to drop below 60 sometimes, but on high/ultra settings fps is always above 60.

Now need to figure how do disable bright LED light when using webcam. Any recommendations for decent backpack to fit this 17'3in.

Very disappointed with the display of the G75VX and had to return it to BB for refund. The display color gamut coverage and resolution was good but the screen was so grainy like it has some type of grease smeared all over it. The Panel was Chi Mei on the G75VX and I never had this issue on the G55VW with AUO screen.

I picked up a Slappa Kampus (18" version) it fits the g75 great. It's not to big but still has room for my mouse, n52 game pad, sound blaster recon 3d USB, razer tiamat 2.2 headphones and cooling pad.
