Yep, you read that right. Figured I should give credit where credit is due!

I sent my G73J in for a GPU repaste, and missing keystrokes. After RMA, my keyboard is perfect, my track pad is perfect. And best of all, they did not wipe the hard drive.

Before RMA, GPU idle: 80 degrees, furmark: 112 degrees then shutoff
After RMA, GPU idle: 49-55, furmark: 87

Those are a little higher than some people after repaste, but I'm plenty happy with them. Plus, they actually used the MX-2 paste I sent in with the RMA.

I called frequently for updates, the most annoying thing is they only have one repair status "In Repair", and the phone agents don't have any additional info. The best thing is they were flexible and worked with me so I could get my computer back in time for my trip next week.

Only weird thing is the keyboard was lifted up a bit in the corner when I opened my laptop, but I pushed it in and it clicked, must have just been one of those things. Overall, I'm really pleased with the service from Indy on this one!

....And then hell froze over and puppies learned to fly and attack people like Pokemon. I kid, nice to hear something positive for once.

    Flying attack puppies... cool.

How long did it take to get your unit fixed and back to you?

Subtracting shipping days, it was in for 12-13 days. However, that is business days, so add in weekends and shipping time and it feels like it takes FOREVER.. I was seriously way more excited than I should have been when the Fedex guy showed up today!! I felt crazy lost without it lol.

Your temps seem fine - yeah, higher than some, but about average for a lot. I've got a list of 10 (well, 12) other people who have either had a professional repaste, or done one themselves and end up with about 90 in furmark.

Does Asus always take about 12 business days? This really pisses me off because 12 business days is almost 3 weeks without a computer. I recently RMA a motherboard to Asus and that took me 12 business days, not including shipping both ways. For one of the biggest companies in the computer business their RMA systems sucks. I mean most companies only take a week to fix a product and ship it back but not Asus. But funny seeing a positive feedback because many people complain how long their RMAs take.

Indy returned my laptop after RMA in 5 business days .. so I was really pleased .. but, my laptop still runs at 105C on load and 69 C at idle :(

another question is that when you use hwinfo32 there are 4 different temps that show up for GPU .. which one I should consider? the highest one? or the lowest one "gpu ts0 DISP IO"

Definatly the highest one ;) Should be the MemIO.

If you send it in for a repaste they surely did a poor job lol. Got any local shops that could do it for you? 105°C is just to hot.

Extreme burning mode, displacement mapping, post processing on, MSAA to 4x, windowed at 1280 x 800, seems to be teh common settings for furmark comparisons. If I turn off extreme burning mode and displacement mapping, I get about a 10 degree drop!

Glad it works out for you, but your 3 week+ wait is far from "awesome" :p
