I had to RMA my laptop just 2 months after purchasing it because of a failing motherboard. After getting the laptop back from Asus I tried to create some power management policies and was confused when I couldn't access gpedit. So I checked the system menu and there I saw instead of Windows 10 Pro I have Windows 10 Home installed. The jokers installed the wrong image.
I really don't want to send in my laptop for RMA again because for one it's a pretty big inconvenience to have to move all my data back to my old computer and to be completely honest I don't trust their support anymore.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get my copy of 10 pro back without sending in for RMA? I'd really appreciate some feedback on this, thanks in advance!

If you know the code you can upgrade to pro easily. My laptop came with home and I bought a Pro code off ebay for $10-15. Took 10 seconds.

Unfortunately I don't. That was my thinking too but I didn't get around to saving any of that information before the mobo failed (1 month after purchase). I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and send it back in I'm afraid. Thanks for your response though.

Send it back over a $10 upgrade code? Whatever floats your boat I suppose.

$10? Did you forget a zero?

Problem solved. I went into Windows store and it recognised my computer and allowed me to update to 10 pro.

Great news, makes sense since the code gets locked to a single computer. Enjoy. Ebay has upgrade codes for $10-$15 btw. So no I didn't forget a 0.technomancer13 likes this.
