I just wanted to start a discussion on how bad you guys think the cooling will be. It's a nice design and it's cute that Asus says it's got great cooling, but being under an inch thick I can't imagine it has great cooling. Otherwise, I would buy it as soon as it was out. What are your thoughts?

Thought you said you needed the laptop at your door before august ends - that won't happen with the Gx500 :p

About the cooling though, if Asus has any sense at all they will put a maxwell 860m in there which is much easier to cool than the Kepler chips

Depends on how well designed it is, you will have to wait for reviews to tell how it does :)

I do, I just saw it on their website and thought it might come out sooner. Can't find the G551 though. Did they change the name or am I just bad at site navigation?

Why start a new thread on the GX500 when we already have one?
Anyway my guess is the dual cooling fans should be enough to cool a lower powered Maxwell card sufficiently, I just hope the fans are relatively quiet.

The lower maxwells should be really easy to cool, especially at idle, the system should not be too noisy :)

It is the highest Maxwell chip out yes, but it is not a high-end (870M/880M) chip, we probably won't see those until the 900GTX/900M series is out.

Indeed, it's likely the lowest/second lowest of the final set.
