First off all, this is a do at your own risk. Just because it works for me doesn't mean it will work for you. I will not be responsible for any bricks. AND PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE WINFLASH
I would like to thank ziddy123, kieth1342 and hellcry for this.
I'll start off with what this is, i'm one of the unlucky ones who cannot run on stock vbios. I've used ziddy's v3 but i have to rely on an overclock to help. Further more i run with a softmodded firepro driver. So i do not have overdrive feature. Everytime i use AMD GPU Tool to overclock, i have to restart for powerplay to work again.
So today i had a burst of courage. At first i modified ziddy's V3 but was then adviced by Hellcry to do from a stock bios. So that was what i did. I am not sure if overdrive is unlocked but i did do the settings for it. So if anyone were to try this, do let me know and i will update as i do not use a radeon driver on my G73.
In short what this is, at powerplay set to performance, it is overclocked at its default voltage where else ziddy's is at a slightly lower voltage. At set to optimize battery, it is the same as ziddy's.
What is different between mine and Ziddy's is basically there are 4 settings mine runs at 705/1100 1.15v, 200/500 0.9v for the 2nd which is video and 3rd 200/500 0.9v. The forth setting i set mine to 100/300 0.9v. Thou i don't think it actually affects anything.
I've tested HDMI to be working as this is a modified of the original asus vbios.
As for instructions, if your about to do this, you would know how to flash your vbios.
I created a 2nd Vbios which i am currently using. This is targeted more towards saving battery and to lower Gpu Temp for general usage. The difference between this and my earlier version is that this is clocked even lower when set to optimize battery. Use Media Player Classic to use the UDV feature built into our cards. So what this is, 705/1100, 200/500 (video), 100/300, 100/300. So if i were to play games, i set up "high performance to run on performance" then set media to "optimize battery" This way when i play games i run at over clocked settings, general usage i run at an even lower clock, and for videos i use media player classic to use udv feature which is clocked at 200/500. VLC player doesn't work. It works just that it doesn't use udv...
So here it is - (normal version) 705/1100, 200/500, 200/500, 100/ 300
Download My Bios.7z
I have included atiflash and hashtab together in it.

Even lower clocked version - 705/1100, 200/500, 100/300, 100/300

If anyone has tried this, would like to know if it worked for you...

I created another vbios which i'm trying out now, this is meant for lower temperatures during general use and longer battery life. I'm currently going to test it out for a few days to see how it goes. Basically for performance it runs at 705/1100 1.15v, UDV i set to 200/500 0.9v, power saving at 100/300 0.9v and the last also 100/300 0.9v.
The trouble i'm having is when i play a video, i'm guessing clock speeds should bump up to 200/500 but it doesn't. Not sure why so if anyone can shine some light on this would be of great help. But at the moment, it is able to play 1080p videos. Have to test out more before i put it up online.
Edit: I got it working, removed my firepro driver, installed 10.7 and Media Player Classic. Played and it bumped up to 200/500. Vlc didn't trigger the speed bump. -
Just slightly off topic, but after trying PowerDVD 10 with their new found mkv support, I find I now have no real reason to use any other player, like VLC or MPC-HC.
-
I shall give that a try. I'm so used to VLC, but i guess its time to move on.
Running at 100/300 does have quite a temperature drop. From what i can tell, i get about 5 - 6 degree's drop compared to 200/500. -
do you think .80v at idle will work? I see that on the MSI vbios for their 5870 they drop it to .80v on idle.
-
Has it been running stable since you made own vbios smile_gerard? I won't be able to test your vbios out until next tuesday (1 month without my g73 sucks).

Just to side track a little, while reading up on RBE, there was this section that said every graphic card has a given range of voltages to work with. Say for example, if it was stated 0.8v and 0.9v. But we set it at 0.85v, it may cause errors such as, the clocks would still be either 0.8 or 0.9. As we are unable to see what are the voltages for our card, its really just making a blind guess. Also every gpu has a minimum amount of voltage it needs, unless we know that amount, we would then safely be able to try it out. If someone is willing to try, i would gladly make that bios. Though I will not be responsible if things go wrong. -

Edit: Just had a look at power dvd 10, to make use of its features such as sharpening and upscaling all that, UDV is disabled. But it also does have the function to enable UDV which disables the features. It seems very useful for lower resolution video files.
I also did a test to try out the UDV feature, apprently even with the cpu set to maximum 40%, using a UDV player such as media player classic, i am able to play a full HD .mkv format movie with ease. No skips at all. -

So the fan controls are locked/unlocked in the vBIOS??
Oh ziddy...
-
They are locked in the Asus and Msi bios. But unlocked in the Clevo bios.
-
I may try the 100/300 clocks you set yours at, if that doesn't work what will happen, will you brick your laptop or will it just give you a gsod?
-
Use the AMD GPU Tool to test the clocks first
-
Yea use the AMD GPU Tool first. Clock it up to 705/1100 then drop it directly to 100/300. Do it a couple of time to see if you will run stable. Also i found out that if i disable powerplay in ccc, my clocks are 700/1000. Thought that was kinda interesting if u want stock clocks. Furmark stays its core clock is 705/1100 but AMD GPU TOOL says its 700/100. I also use a widget that displays my temperature and clocks which says its 700/1000. I think i'm gona need to do the paste as well. I top out at 100 degrees Celsius in just 4 mins of extreme burning. Don't like those numbers.

Probably, ziddy's underclocks to 200/500.
-
but with undervolt i reduce also underclock and overclok range?
do you know why i don't see pch temperature with hwinfo32? -
I don't know, i don't use hwinfo32. My temperature i look from a widget then i have at the side or i look at the overdrive tab.
