Dear All, Firstly Kudos to ViciousXUSMC.
Since April last year I have been a steadfast W90 Vp owner (had to import it from the US as could not get it in Australia) and have been using his Limit breaker guide with much enthusiasm.
Back then I had an overclocked Q9000 CPU and was able to just crack 15000 3D Marks 06.

However as time progressed I upgraded to an SSD and got my hand on the QX9300 CPU.
To my lament I found that there was no other way to over clock the CPU except through FSB.
I was “only” able to achieve a stable over clock of 3.15Ghz.

I then searched for a way to unlock the QX9300 Multipliers in Windows and here it is:

    The name is
Throttlestop and here is a link to the gent who Made it> unclewebb
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/452692-acer-throttlestop-thread-4.html

I was playing with it last night and managed to Successfully unlock the Multiplier all the way to 13x
Which gave me a Stable Clock of 3520.04 Mhz

I have managed to do a combination of both unlock multiplier at 12.5 and a FSB unlock to achieve a (at least 1 hour stable) 3674 CPU overclock. And a 3d MARK 06 Run of 18027 (will post Screenshot later)

    So, next stop 20,000

    Happy Overclocking

    Soviet

You're most welcome. I love seeing all this new power finally being unleashed. :)

Intel has been very quiet about this overclocking secret for a long time.

When you right click on ThrottleStop and select Update BCLK, does that calculate your correct bus speed and MHz after you use SetFSB? In Vista and Windows 7 I think it should but it might not in XP. The timers in XP can get a little screwy when overclocking with SetFSB.

ThrottleStop can also monitor and log your video card temps. Just add GPU=1 to the ThrottleStop.ini configuration file if you have an Nvidia GPU and add GPU=2 if you have an ATI GPU.

You can also change the ThrottleStop DTS column to core temperature information by adding TJMax=100 to the ThrottleStop.ini config file.

I've been thinking about another option for Quad core owners. It's possible to lock two cores at a multiplier of 6.0 and a low voltage to conserve power while you run the other two cores as fast as you want. These Quads have two separate Dual Cores inside so it is possible to run them independently at two different speeds. I thought this might be handy for a single threaded Super PI bench or maybe even for gaming. You could run a game using the Task Manager - Set Affinity... on two very fast cores and slow down the other two cores to keep the heat down. I'm not sure if it would be a good feature or not. It wouldn't take too much work on my part so if you're interested in this feature then just let me know.

I was in the Asus G73 thread and someone had a 17000 point 3DMark06 score. Of course he had an overclocked Core i7-920XM. Isn't it nice to run better than this new technology with an old QX? :D

Hey unclewebb, sorry bout late reply

I have not yet redone my overclocking but am looking to do so this weekend so will get Back to you re updating the BCLK and update of Ghz display, will look forward to checking out the Graphics card monitoring also, does this also work for xfire?
The feature of dialing down to cores to keep heat down sounds like a decent idea, however my Asus has ridiculusly good cooling, I.E have been running it at 3.45 Ghz at 100% for 24 hours without a hitch.
Will see how much more I can push it past 18027 Marks

    Hey Etiko,

Unfortunatly the q9000 Cpu does not have unlocked multiplyers (ie they are fixed on the CPU) the only way to overclock it to use Set FSB, you should be able to get a stable overclock of about 2.7 GHz

Soviet KGB: ThrottleStop is designed to read both GPUs if you have Nvidia cards in SLI mode or if you are using ATI cards in CrossFire. It compares the temperature of both cards and should report the highest GPU temperature.

You can compare what it shows to GPU-Z. I know the ATI desktop drivers put one GPU to sleep when your computer is at the desktop so it doesn't report temperature data when it is asleep. ThrottleStop doesn't bother to wake it up since that would defeat the purpose of putting an unused GPU to sleep. When both GPUs are being used while gaming with CrossFire enabled, they should both be reporting temperature data to ThrottleStop.

I haven't done any work on my idea of 2 fast cores and 2 slow cores. It doesn't sound like you need that. Some of the Dell guys are starving for extra wattage from their power adapters so I thought saving a few watts might be useful for them.
