If anyone can find confirmation the GX701 uses asus armory crate software and not gaming center that would be great. Might have to give asus another shot, the gx701 looks beautiful.

Here is the official product website from asus: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Zephyrus-S-GX701/
You just have to scroll down a bit, and in the chaptre software it shows ROG armoury crate.

Oh beautiful thanks! Well sh*t after my huge issues with the hero ii I’m tempted to give asus another shot with the gx701, 144hz, 17”, slim bezels, rtx. Its a beautiful thing. Now 2080 maxq or 2070 is the question lol.

It looks like this just has the 1 m2 pci slot. That is disappointing, you think they could have fit another in there.

Yea that kinda sucks, Looks like the 2080 maxq comes with a 1tb nvme which for me is enough for my laptop. Debating now between the GT75 2080 / GE75 2080 / Zephyrus S 2080 max q.....decisions decisions.

    Storage

    M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 1TB SSD, M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x2 512GB / 1TB SSD

Looks like it has two m.2 slots

I'm just dying for a release date. I'm in the market for a gaming laptop and was all set to get the gx531 (1070 max q) but then this (gx701) popped up and now I'm conflicted.
I wonder if performance of the gx701 (2080 max q) is a huge leap ahead of the gx531 (1070 max q) or is it iterative.
I really want to get one before feburary is over

2080 max q over a 1070 max q should be a pretty good jump in performance. Release date is Jan 29 if you didn’t know. I kinda want a full 2080 so don’t think Ill be getting this although it looks really nice.

Removed the webcam but kept the two microphones at the bottom of the display chin/near the fans? Why lol. Shame about the soldered ram *No dual channel if you want to max out the ram?*

Type C charging is cool, MSI GS65 and Gigabyte Aero 15 don't have that

Hopefully the battery life is decent *fingers crossed*

Is there any reason say the GM501 has all Gen 2 USB 3.1 ports while this has Gen 1 ports too? Gen 1 Type C is kind of a joke

I like Hidevolutions services but they are overpriced compared to other retailers.
Hopefully we see prices that are not as crazy, because over 3 grand for RTX 2080 Is a tough pill to swallow.

This is number 1 for me out of all the RTX laptops shown so far, but I'm skeptical on a few things.

Fitting the 17" screen into a 15" form factor is awesome. Removing the webcam is great, as I haven't used a webcam in years. USB-C charging is nice. Good specs and the thermal design looks innovative. Hopefully it is effective, too. I had a GS65 and it was a mess for thermals. Hoping to have a slim laptop without such headaches.

Price is scary. Certainly paying a premium over the competition makes me hesitate. Then there is ASUS customer service, which I've heard mixed things about. Does anyone have input on that? Do they make you pay for shipping to/from, are they fast, responsive, are there ample warranty options to extend?

I have had to utilize warranty on almost every high end laptop I've had, for better or worse.

Dell/Alienware was amazing when I dealt with them. They sent me packing material and a label. They were fast on the turn around, a great experience.

HP was even better. Even when I was out of warranty, as a courtesy they took my laptop and quickly repaired it. They overnighted me a box and label, I sent it back, and it was back to me 3 days later (total of 5 day process).

MSI was... ok. I had to pay for shipping, which was $35 from NY to CA. That took 3 days. They received it and didn't send any notification or updates until over a week later. I was then given a tracking number and the laptop showed up a few days later. They didn't provide shipping materials, but I reused the old HP shipping materials.

Lenovo was abysmal and I'll never buy a product of theirs outside of a price mistake/crazy good deal.

So what can I expect from Asus?
