    Please help!
My asus g50vt-x5 lcd is working rather strange, it shows some letters with a red line around, and sometimes when the picture is dark(black) the screen has horizontal green lines(but only a few).
Even when writing this the letters "logged in as ..." are fine, but tabs and this box has the red lining. (But again when posted the letters are displayed fine)
I have tried connecting another monitor via vga port and it displays everything without any problems. Sometimes when I close the lid it goes away, but then it usually appears again.

I know it is probably the lcd, but any idea if anything else could be the problem: video drivers(win 7 ultimate x64), inverter, graphic card...

Please help!!! Any help would be appreciated!

This tells us that it is nothing to do with the drivers and graphic card.

I don't think it is an inverter problem either which mostly lets the LCD go black otherwise. I would recommend you to check the cables/connectors of your LCD (since you are saying that it goes out when you close the lid).

Thanks, forgotten to post that I also tried safe mode, and still the red outline is there, so with the graphic card and driver disabled the problem is still there.

It is nothing to do with the driver/graphics card... Otherwise you should have seen the same issues when you connected your laptop to the external monitor.

Hi I'm experiencing the same problem, how much do you think a repair like this would cost?

If it is the panel, about $150 for a new panel, less if you buy a used one. The panels are easy to find, new or used.

If it is the cable, anywhere from $30 to $70 for a used one, if you can even find one. I don't know of anywhere to get a new cable.

This is only for the parts if you swap it out yourself. If you hire someone to do the repair you will have to factor in their labor charge as well, which varies wildly. They should be able to swap it out in about an hour though.
