Well guys my new laptop is affected by this problem and i think im going to send it back to the shop or if they dont give me the money.. just sell a little bit cheaper. this issue is so annoying when gaming or just typing fast that just.. pisses me off! I've also a g11 connected by USB and when playing online games.. seems that the keyboard "LAGS"

i want to know if this happens with g51 JX (720QM,4GB,320GB, GTS 360M)

There have been reports of it happening with the G51Jx, but it's not a very common complaint except on the G73 series. There has been a fix released for the G73 but not the G53 yet.

Never experienced any problems with KB. I heard touchpad have some effect on that (G73), so try to disable touchpad and see if it solve your problem.

Your G11 keyboard shouldn't lag though.

This is the first post I've ever seen regarding the G53 and keyboard lag.

Might be just an isolated incident.

G53 is as pretty perfect laptop if you ask me ;)

Keyboard lag on either the G51 or G53 is extremely uncommon.

If you have lag on an external keyboard something is very wrong.

I answered your email but there isn't anything I can help you with... the G51 keyboard lag isn't a major issue, it's pretty rare. In units that have it, they get exchanged for new ones. That's really all there is to it. We can keep going in circles. :p

A full reinstall with a windows disc (not the recovery discs/partition) and the latest drivers might fix it. You can also try taking the keyboard off and cleaning the connector with rubbing alcohol.

An external USB keyboard should never lag.

Again if this is a machine you are looking at purchasing, move along. You don't need to buy problems.

    I FIXED MINE

    i have a G53JW-A1
    16GB Crucial Ram
    dual OCZ SSDs
brand new glossy black backlit keyboard (got off ebay but its an official asus replacement part)

ive had this keyboard lag ever since i got it, i used both the drivers off the asus website and the latest from the manufactures

NOTHING WORKED, i even tried scraping the black sh*t off the ribbon connector and screwed my keyboard up.........

i found out that its not the keyboard itself, its the PIECE OF GARBAGE touchpad + Touch pad drivers

synaptics drivers and exe set themselves as high priority in taskmgr, i set them to low and noticed the lag was less but still happening,

i eventually uninstalled ALL synataptics products and disabled the touchpad in the bios

extreme i know, but it freaking worked, i can type almost 90WPM without a single missed keystroke. left4dead2 and COD6 do not miss a single command.

i use a bluetooth orochi mouse and before when i had the stupid synaptics TP drivers on, the BT mouse would randomly stop working and i would have to power cycle the BT radio and mouse to reconnect (so annoying) but it hasnt disconnected or randomly stopped working even on low batteries for over a week and a half.

That's an old fix. The newer one is to use the drivers linked in chastity's post on the ROG forums. Linked in my sig. They're not yet up on the asus website, afaik.

It appears that i have a similar problem but my keys do not lagg behind, instead when i'm typing too fast or just typing my keyboard or whatever it could be takes me back a couple of words and type over what i had just typed. It also sometimes skips a couple spaces which can get very annoying if your a fast typer. Any feedback would be appropriated.

From what I've been reading the latest bios released around feb 23rd is supposed to fix the keyboard lag issues. I've talked to 2-3 people that its fixed theirs and I've used a couple bst6 models with the latest bios that didnt have the problem. So you might want to try a bios upgrade.

I've been having keyboard lag since I got my G53Jw back from being repaired (AC pin snapped off the motherboard) a few weeks ago. I had no trouble whatsoever before the repairs.) Should the new BIOS (211, March 28) fix it? And... how do I go about updating my BIOS?

I want to avoid sending this off for repairs again AT ALL COSTS; trying to convince the Japan repair centre to fix it under warranty was a NIGHTMARE and not an experience I'm keen to repeat.

    Hey.

I had the same problem too. The fix is to update your ATK package to 1.0.008. No need to flash your bios. It's available on Chastity's page. My laptop is wonderful now and I'm a happier man. The only bug was the lag and that's fixed. It's a very rare case though, lag on the G53JW. It's very common on the G73.

One doubt i have though. I didn't flash the bios cuz if i did, and me being not a very lucky guy, i manage to brick my laptop, there's no way in Hell I'll be able to RMA my laptop (I got it from USA) and the asus people here in India are unbelievably pathetic plus they wouldn't know how to work on this laptop.
What I'd like to know is that has anyone tried flashing the bios and if so, does the keyboard backlight work cuz i read that in the g73, it would stop working. Also, did anyone manage to brick their laptop or will it NEVER happen using Chastity's updated bios flashed correctly?

Put the contents of that download onto a USB stick formatted for FAT/FAT32. Put the stick in the machine, and power up the machine, hit F2 at the Asus screen. Once in the BIOS, start EZ Flash, and load the 211 BIOS on the USB stick. Follow the onscreen instructions.

    Viola!
