First of all, i would like to say i know this laptop is extremely outdated which is why im trying to find a cheap CPU upgrade for it in the meantime. i plan on buying a new computer and i'm hoping this laptop can last me another few months. I do NOT play very graphic demanding games. I'm just searching for a minor upgrade in the meantime so i can keep up with the latest games atleast at a medium setting. Here are the specs to this laptop

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53Ghz
    nVidia GTX 260M 1GB
    17.3" Widescreen LCD 1600x900
    6GB DDR2 RAM
    500GB HDD
    DVD RW

I want to find a cheap CPU below $100 After doing some research the only CPU's i could find were the x9100 and the t9900 but these posts are from years ago
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    thanks.

If your BIOS supports it, T9900 would be more ideal. P series Core 2 duo was, I believe, 25w TDP part. T series was 35w. The quadcore series was 45w. You do not want to jump from using 25w to CPU to 45w CPU. Besides, 0.50 ghz increase from T9900 would benefit you more in general gaming.

To be honest though, it's not worth any kind of upgrade. P8700 is fairly good enough for the moment until you purchase a new laptop.
