    I just picked up a G72gx pretty cheap. It will run off battery, but the dc jack will spark and the adapter will shut off when plugged in. The problem is the + connection on the motherboard. I've fixed several of these problems before, but when I opened up the laptop the solder point is about twice the size it should be. The person who I bought it from didn't solder the jack on right and damaged the solder point to the point where it is no longer usable.

    Does anyone know where the + leads to first? I was thinking just soldering some wire straight onto that.

    Edit:

    I was also thinking of running the ac straight to the batter terminals. Has anyone here tried this? I know it can be done in some cases but im not sure about this one.

    Thanks =)

    Well, after many hours of of trial and error, I got the laptop to boot!

    Finally found the + lead... Time for bed!
