Hey all, I have a quick question. I was thinking about upgrading my CPU from the I7 1.73ghz to something with a little more power. Is it a) possible with this particular Laptop or B) is there something more comparable to make it faster?

    Thanks All!

I put a 920xm in my Best Buy G73JH. It's the 2nd best upgrade I have done. First being and SSD drive.

Keep an eye out on eBay for some good deals. You can regularly get them for $250-$300, but they can be found for less if you keep an eye out.

    A) It is very possible.

    B) You should also look into upgrading to a SSD like I did. Which to upgrade first depends on what gets you excited. If you want fast load times and snappy performance in windows, then SSD may be for you. If you want greater performance overall and higher performance in CPU intensive games, then the CPU is what you want first. However, the SSD upgrade is much easier to perform than the CPU upgrade, and the improvements are extremely obvious from the moment you turn the laptop back on.

I'm going through with the cpu upgrade right now - see Exsedol's 920xm thread

You have an i7 1.73GHz?? The 720QM comes default in the Best Buy version, and that's 1.6GHz.

There was another BB version that came out around the JW release, 5400 rpm drive, and a i7-740qm. Same 5870m card though :)

Yeah, the G73JH-BST7. It's a good change, since the CPU is the weakest component in the G73JH other than the HDD.
