It keeps restarting after 5-10 minutes of use, then says there is no device to boot from. It's not the hdd as I've tested it in another laptop and it worked fine. I've also tried in both hdd slots and this occurs with both of them.

how did you test them i nthe other laptop? did you stress test them in the other machine? could be a motherboard issue, possibly even an overheating issue.

Is it a sudden shut down, no BSOD? Those are typical of thermal protection. Have you clean out the vents and fans on your computer recently. A good cleaning with a can of compressed air would fix that.

no it restarts through windows. I'm pretty sure its the motherboard failing I've had numerous problems with it over the past month or two, planning on buying a new laptop within the next few weeks anyways.

Is there some campaign at the moment or something? Why not try to help and show the maturity of owners of other machines rather than being quite so immature?

Machine resets can be due to thermal issues (use gpuz and core temp to monitor these) and the brick (is the battery discharged at all when you get it back?)

What kind of use are we talking? 5-10 mins gaming or Internet browsing?

Its not overheating, im pretty sure it was due to bad sata connectors. I've since bought 2nd Hard Drive Caddy Adapter Asus N55 N73 N43 N45 N53S N53SV G73JH G73JW G73SW | eBay and put hard drive in there, no problems since :)
