Can someone tell me what's going on and if this is common? My power adapter for the g73sw just randomly stopped working (? common?), so I then go to Wal-mart and buy some igo Green AC power adapter which works to get my laptop powered up but the thing keeps turning off and letting the computer die down when I want it to charge full. It will literally turn off immediately after I press the button to turn it back on and I have to go back and forth a bit.
So anyway, aside from that I ordered a replacement power adapter (the shipping costs and time spent waiting to send back in my current power adapter just made it easier to order a new one). But now what I'm noticing is that it seems like when the igo adapter isnt plugged in and charging that the battery is dying much faster than normal? Isn't this battery supposed to be 8cell and last 8 hours? When I unplug it now, it shows that there's only like 50mins worth of computer time even when it's at 50% charged. Do I need to buy a new battery and is this common for this Asus model?

The battery time you are getting is normal for the G73SW. On a fully charged battery on power save mode doing basically nothing on the computer you can expect 2-3hrs. Once you start using it more you'll see the battery time drop to 1-2hrs, even less if you're gaming or doing any thing intensive. 8hr or anywhere close to that isnt possible for the G73 as it has power hungry components. The computer showing 50mins on 50% battery charge is right on the money

I have a G73JH..
I had a 100% charged Battery.
I turned on the Power saving mode.
Had my graphics card Down cloced to 300/1000.
I got about 1 hour and 20 minutes out of it.
I was surfing the net booking flight and hotels.
This is normal and accepted...
I wish we could get 8 hours for this type of stuff. and 4 hours of gaming.
But that will never happen. Or not till they invent new batteries.
I am hoping for new batties soon..
