Do the buttons feel odd at all? Does clicking by tapping on the touchpad area still work?

Since the laptop is not 30 days year old is it best to ask for a replacement instead to send to asus for a repair?

The retailer/reseller generally doesn't like that, but it's your prerogative. Unless Asus told you that it seems they can't help you apart from having it in for service, I would see whether there's anything they can do to help you troubleshoot the problem.

tzimisce74 - Having the notebook replaced is solely dependent on your place of purchase and its return policy. With regards to ASUS and our warranty, based on your issue, it would require you to have your notebook sent in for servicing at our service center.
Feel free to contact your place of purchase regarding their return policy and how to go about getting a replacement. If you would like to have a Return to Manufacturer's Authorization (RMA) created for your notebook to be serviced under our warranty kindly email us at [email protected].
