I didn't notice this until now since I don't need it atm, but my wireless seems to not be working. I have the Atheros card.

I can't seem to find any Wireless networks nearby even though a bunch, including my wireless router, are broadcasting. In addition, I can't find bluetooth devices, although I'm not really sure how to detect. It's not my routers either, I can connect my phone and other laptop.

I updated via device manager looking for latest updates, but no luck. Help?

Are the antennas properly connected to the wifi card?

Try resetting the bios to defaults and rebooting.

    Cheers,

I'll check in a bit. But they should be. It was working factory settings, but I haven't used wireless for a while now.

To be more specific, when I try to look for a new wireless network, no window pops up with a list of networks as it would usually. Instead, the taskbar network thing pops up, showing my current wired connection.

Pretty dumb of me. I think I had wireless turned off via Fn+F2, but I never noticed the indicator. Imo should have had a physical switch... but eh. I found out after I installed Wireless Console 3. My wireless was off, bluetooth on. I just don't know how to use BT i guess lol.

I know what that's like. I couldn't get a SD card into the reader and as it turned out, I didn't see the dummy SD already inserted in the slot. There's a thread somewhere around here about it. :)

You won't have to worry about not seeing a notification icon with Wireless Console 3 installed, as it doesn't have a way to disable the icon. Besides, as you found out, it's a duplicate of what Fn+F2 does.

To change the behavior of the "Network" icon in the notification area, you can go to the "Control Panel" and then to "Notification Area Icons". I have that set to "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar". I then when into the programs themselves and turned off what I didn't want to see.

Anyway, congrats on getting that sorted.
