    Hey guys -

I'm trying to play BF3 on my g51 (yes, it's old - but I'm a law student so cut me some slack!) and I keep getting "generic error code 1" when I try and launch the game. (it basically doesnt even try to matchmake).

Okay - so I know that error code is not helpful - here is what I've ruled out:

    Firewall, Router, Install, Browser...

The only remaining suggestions are a HARDWARE issue. That's what brings me here.

I've tried to install the battlefield 3 nvidia driviers, but it says no hardware found (I've got the gtx260m, so, well - that's weird)

Do you guys have thoughts on what it might be? Would greatly appreciate it!

(Note: I'm not sure which model g51 i have, but I got it at best buy in August of 2009 and its essentially stock)

    THANKS!

Are you clicking quick match, I got the same error until I figured out that you have to go to the multilayer tab, click server browser and select a non full server. ALso I didn't update my drivers, it gives me the error that I need to upgrade to a newer one but there isn't for my card so I just ignore them and it plays fine.

Ya, I saw that tip - and I've tried manually, party, full, empty - basically any and every combination of match joins.

Every time the "matchmaking" thing pops up in the lower left and within 1-2 seconds, it displays the error code.

    Thanks though! Any other ideas?

Honestly there are a TON of people having this problem here are some of there solutions, differen't solutions worked for different people-
    -Reinstall Java or Update
    -Reinstall Flash or Update
    -Reinstall Battlefield plug in
-And more over just wait, some people just kept spamming until they got in, the servers are overloaded, I stopped playing for now because the Que wait was at 74.

Every single server for me shows 28/32 or 32/32 and when I click it it just says server full, pretty anticipated game so you have to expect this to happen.

Thanks Gray, I'll give these a shot after work. It would be nice to know if the g51 can even play bf3.

Your laptop can play it, I've been watching who can and can't, you just won't be able to play on ultra but neither can I. I've figured out that just leaving it on auto works best.

That's good. It's a lot easier to be patient with a "generic error code" when you know that its not erroring because your comp just cant handle it.

I'll keep updating until I figure it out though.

(moral of the story: Battlelog was a terrible, terrible, terrible idea)

So I have a g50vt, 2.9GHZ CPU, 9800gs. It's CPU bound? I can upgrade the CPU for cheap if that's the case. So can I play bf3 on medium with this video card?
