Ever since i have updated my drivers to 11.5b, it seems like BFBC2 that i am playing now seem to freeze after playing for 1/2 an hour. The game just freeze, with the sound stuttering. There are like once, i can Ctrl+Alt+Delete to kill off BFBC2, where Task Manager shows the game is not responding. The other times when this occurs, i have to hard reset.
I have updated my vBIOS since last december, so im ruling out the chance of a GSOD.
I have checked the temps, and it is hovering about 85 to 90C, which seem fine so far, but i guess maintenance is coming up soon.
I would appreciate if someone could help me on troubleshooting this.
I think the only thing i didnt do is clean off the old 10.4 driver with Driver Sweeper. Could that be the cause of the problem?

Sounds familiar...: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/533456-g73-freeze.html
Mine didnt happen when changing to another ccc though ( not that I know of).
What eventually solved it for me was a clean reinstall of my system..
Not the best solution, but it surely worked, and now I'm playing just fine ^^. -
Hang on, that could be my video card failing?
What? -
Anyway, like it said in the link, do you have somethin like fraps or msi afterburner running? anything that's being an overlayer on your game?
That could be a reason, try shutting them down.
Another reason could be that the install of the new ccc wasent 100 procent good. Try reinstalling that again as well. And do you only get it in BFBC2? Or is it in other games as well?. I only had it in CoD WaW, but after a fresh
reinstall it gave me no more freezes.. -
I never used MSI Afterburner, as it is reporting the wrong temps.
I rarely use Fraps, neither, other than benchmarking the setting for a new game.
I doubt it is Steam overlay, thats the only thing i always have it running.
I rolled back to 11.5, and my G73 have not freeze after 2 hours of BC2. Seems ok now, but i do want to find the cause of the problem. -
11.5b is still a beta, and you may be catching a snag. Just wait for 11.6. If it doesn't crash until 2 hrs later, I'm going to guess there's a memory leak in someone's code.

Lets hope this wont happen again. -
BC2 is a buggy POS, sorry to say. Both on my G60JX and G73JH it had freezing problems. The game has major compatibility issues with certain applications (Steam, for example.) Haven't tried it on my M17x R3 yet.
Make sure to update your Punkbuster files as well so you don't get kicked or crash to desktop. You're lucky if you can get 1+ hour of stable gameplay. -
Lets hope BF3 wont have all this problems, as it is build as a PC game ground up.
