Would / Did you upgrade to the 209 BIOS?

    If yes :
Did it BRICK your laptop or GIVE MORE PROBLEMS?
    Next:
choose BRICK if it bricked your laptop

choose works if no problems encountered

choose last if problems encountered or become worse

My machine was stock (minus Bloatware) and stable. I updated from 205 to 209 as per the guide, using USB flash drive and EasyBIOS (NOT WinBIOS) method. Worked fine, and known issues resolved. I have since updated to CCC 10.5 and disabled core parking following other guides found on the forum. All good after a few days and a few hours gaming. Thanks to everyone in the community for all the hard work on the guides. :)

Thanks to all the people who provided the great info in these guides!

In no particular order, these are a few of many guides on this forum I found useful:

What is the question: Did I upgrade to 209 or did I brick my machine? Is this a loaded question?

OK...I voted yes for the answer that I did upgrade to 209 and voted no since it didn't brick the machine. It did kill my windows 7 activation and my keyboard lights. The activation was corrected with three calls to the Microsoft activation center. The first person I hung up on after 35 minutes, the second person didn't have a working knowledge of the English language and the third person successfully got my windows activated. The keyboard is still as dark as Grant's tomb. :(

What is the difference between "yes" and "works like a charm"?

Your poll is still worded weird. I think the poll would have made more sense and would be clearer if you had done the following:

    Did you upgrade to 209?
    • No.
    • Yes, worked like a charm.
    • Yes, but it bricked the laptop.
    • Yes, but it didn't solve anything and has caused more issues.

In the above poll, I vote: Yes, worked like a charm.

I don't know how to edit a poll. I suppose you could contact a mod and see if the mod would be willing to make the changes.

I've not used it myself, but I think you can do it through the "Report Post" icon. Go to the first post which contains the poll, click the "Report Post" icon and then in the resulting window fill in what you want the mod to change. Alternatively, the mods for this sub-form are listed at the bottom of the thread list, you could click on one of the names and then use the "Send a private message to..." option.

This is the most confusing poll ever, but I voted that it worked like a charm.

...I guess, I mean I didn't have any problems other than a few missed keystrokes and the FN+Esc issue.
