Hey everybody, I just figured it would be nice to see a positive thread about how the G73 is doing since no one ever posts just to say, "Hey, I don't have any issues!" lol So I just got done playing about 2 hours of Mafia II and even though I peaked at 95*C on the 5870 I always had 45+ FPS maxed @ 1920X1080 with AA and AFNo GSOD's and no stuttering....good work, I love it!

This post would have been awesome for the Happy G73JH Owners Lounge...

Yep, running my own modified vBIos and the PowerPlay as I wanted working correctly. The G73 now automatically downclocks for 2D 200/300, Video 500/1000, and performance 700/1000. I reduced the 2D/Battery to .90 volts.
G73 is finally completely and simply an amazing machine now. -

But in my v3 bios thread, I explained how to modify it yourself. Also I believe Chastity has her own modified with OverDrive unlocked.

Thanks, I'll post my results when I'm done...if this works I'll be more worried about my cpu temps.

Ziddy, your vbios is working perfectly for me, and its keeping my idle at 47, which is now less than my cpu idle.
Edit: Its actually idling at 44 for me....I for got that I had just finished playing some l4d2 at the time and had obviously not left it long enough to check its actual idle. -

I tried mine with AMD GPU Clock Tool and the lowest I can go is 300/400 but even without the adjusted vCore on the GPU I still drop to 46/48/44 idle temps
and believe it or not at 300/400 I still get 60FPS in UT3 LOL

Same for me. When I try from 200/300 back up to 700/1000 it locks up. But for some reason when I use it with vBios, it works fine.
vBios works with PowerPlay whereas the GPU Tool just forces it. IMO that is likely the difference.
I also noticed if you just increase the core speed on the OverDrive, the memory remains dynamic. Meaning, I don't have to do battery/power hot key switching. So right now it's at 200/300. But when I game, it will crank up to 800/1000. So I don't have to touch anything anymore.
