Hello all. I have an Asus G73JH I purchased in 2010 brand new. Lately I noticed the original battery not charging or depleting quickly. I purchased a replacement Asus original battery and it will not charge at all?? I seems like the old batter charges intermittently and the new one not at all. The laptop works perfectly plugged in. I'm updated to the latest 213 bios. The battery icon i the system tray shows "Charging" but the percentage stays the same. I'm out of ideas.

    Thanks

What happens if you try charging it with the machine off?

The charging light on the front is a solid orange, but the battery does not charge even when the system is shut off.

Sounds like a motherboard issue to me then if the machine is happy playing games the adapter is fine.

I would think if the battery you had originally charged but the replacement doesn't it could just be a dud battery. I got a new dell battery for my previous laptop, genuine one, and it was DOA. Amber light, no charge. Might be worth getting it replaced if you can, as if it's the motherboard as meaker suggested it's not really worth fixing cost wise unless you really need battery. Even then a replacement motherboard would cost less than repair I expect.
