One year and one month and my battery is dying...shutting down at 27% or whatever without notice...warning to replace my battery....perfect....

With all the issues these Asus computers have its a wonder anyone is buying them at all... GSOD, overheating, BIOS issues, keyboard issues, trackpad issues, random shutdowns, on and on...(yes I have done the fixes <sigh>)

Never again will I buy an Asus...Sager for me...maybe a Acer would be more reliable :D

Please don't tell me all laptops have issues. I'm not a kid. Been in the computer business for a long time. These Asus laptops are Sh*ite. No one should have to basically rebuild their new lappy just to get if functional.

    Disgruntled former Asus owner...

I understand you upset, but i've had mine 6 months and have had 0 problems. All I have done is update the BIOS and VBIOS and drivers. I know you said don't bring it up, but I've never owned a computer that didn't have issues. If you feel like spending more money, then have it. I'll stick with my 1000 gaming beast.

I would see if doing a full charge/discharge cycle helps. Maybe the battery memory monitor is poochy.

I second that. Turn off auto-hibernate/sleep when battery is below 7% in power options and drain the battery till it completely shuts down. Leave it charging for 6-8hours and then try it and see if it helps bring some life into it.

I have a similar battery issue as the OP, except my battery discharges from 15% to zero in 12 hours wether it is in or out of the NB. I tried the suggestions (calibration) but did not change. So ASUS sent me a new battery that dies totally at 25 % (tried calibration on it also futile). Now they want me to pay to ship back the battery, and they offered me an RMA of my entire unit (which works well thanks to the help from these forums otherwise). After reading some of the horror stories I declined.

Stick it in a plastic bag and chuck it in the freezer for 24 hours :D Sounds silly but kept my old battery going for an extra 2 months before it conked out!

Thats not true or correct I leave my laptop on 24/7 with the battery in it on AC power and have done for over a year and my battery only has 7% wear.

The battery stops charging once it goes above 95% automatically using the ACPI Battery management driver. Preventing unecessary wear.

Prove someone wrong with facts not insults fella.

DCx is right, his advice was to help only there are no moron's here.

However, I will say that DCx's Reptile profile picture does scare me. I can imagine this is the look he would give me should I question something he has said. :D

Wow, maybe ASUS teck was correct after all, Mine seems to always charge to 100%. I use it on battery for 2 hours or so (downclocked) and it discharges to 20% approx. (I have done this about 40 times) I power down then plug it in and leave it off overnight, then the next day it is back to 100%.
Thanks to all who added to this thread.

My battery wear is 18% after a few months. Is there some guide to calibrate it since it shouldn't be having so much wear.

    Thanks.

Ton, R U using hwinfo32 to determine wear level? I do and even with all the discharge cycles I put it through it shows only 7.8
Unlike some machines the BIOS has no calibration function. Remove all power profile settings and let it discharge to zero (that is what asus told me to do and others on the forum have advised). Then leave the computer off, plug it in and full charge the battery with the computer off.

Ok i used Battery Bar. I've discharged to 0% charge and will do like you said. I knew everything up till the part of charging it with the computer off. Hopefully after a few more hours , i can charge it and it can have full capacity :D

Chuck it in the freezer in a sealed plastic bag for 24 hours. Charge it.

    Check your wear :D
