I recently bought the g73 series off of newegg but have ran into serious battery trouble. The first problem was a broken AC adapter so I went to Bestbuy and boughta new universal one that had the right amount of power (15-24v). The problem I am having now is the laptop does not charge when it is turned on. It will charge for awhile while turned on but as soon as I load a video game it will turn off. If I don't load a video game it will turn off within a couple hours. I have looked all over the internet and cannot find answers. Is it just the normal battery life? Is my battery dead? Do I need a whole new laptop?

sounds to me that it isn't your battery...it is that UNIVERSAL power supply you bought is the culprit....why could you not get a replacment from new egg or ASUS?

Could you explain to me how a universal adapter would be the problem? It has as much power as my other adapter doesn't it? Would it be the battery itself?

    Agreed with Josh22

@Ra2thief; Whats the wattage ratting on that universal adapter you bought? That might be why it works when the computer isnt under load but when it is it shuts off, because the G73 requires at least a good 150 watt PSU underload

it's ok....we all have moments like this in life... :).....now you know... :)....even if the universal power supply was 150 watt you still could of had problems....universal PS can be somewhat iffy sometimes.....it's usually bust to have an official one to avoid any problems... :)

    Lol it happenes

What I want to know is where Chastity is to spam her 180watt Targus Universal Adapter :p LOL

which btw is the one I would recommend as well, it covers the minimum for the laptop and would give you some headroom :)
