    Hello all guys,

I know there have been similar threads to this, but after doing some researches, I found that my problem is a bit different.

So to start: my G73jh is the refurbished Best Buy RBBX-05 version.

First, my original battery stopped working, red light blinking, stay at 0% charge albeit reported to be charging. This is with my original charger, which has output of 19.5 V, 7.7 A, 150W I believe.

Then my charger stopped working, so I bought a Liteon charger with output 20V, 6A, 120W to replace it ( it was impossible to find the original one in my country ).

And 2 days ago, I bought a new replacement battery for the laptop. After plugging it in, it charged nicely to 98%. I was happy.

However the next day, I saw the battery light blinking, with green and red color alternatively, that's when i removed the charger cord, and it worked fine for like 30 mins and then turn itself off. ( not that weird because i was using the comp in full load, high performance settings and streaming videos and stuff)

But then, when I put the cord back in, It says charging, but after a while, the level is still at 0%, and then the red light started blinking.

    HWinfo64 reported 100% level wear.

So I suspect that either my charging circuit in the lap is malfunctioned somehow. And maybe the replacement charger output is not enough? It's strange that it charged nicely for the first time though.

Anyone has ideas on the problem and how to fix them? Buy a new original charger? And a new battery?

    Thanks everyone!

All replacements needed to be rated at the same voltage (+/- 0.5v) as the original and an equal or higher current (and therefore wattage).

    Eg 12v 2 amp (=24w) can be replaced with a 12.5v 1.95a. Not 1.5v 2 amp or 12v 1 amp.

You would need a 8A or better for the G73JW. The OEM is a 150W unit, tho a 180W unit is ideal. As for the charging, it seems the ACPI sensor is a bit off. Let the battery drain and recharge.

    Yes I'd recommend a 180w unit too.

Thank you all for replying and providing tips.

When I said it stayed at 0%, I mean it literally stayed at 0% which will result in my computer turning off if I cut the power. It's not just the reading of the battery is wrong. Thank you and if you have any other idea it's greatly appreciated.

I ordered a 180W charger, let's see if it works. I will need to return the battery too but I will check with the new charger first when I got it.

You can also try plugging it in and hold down the reset button on the underside for 10 secs. You will need to redo your BIOS settings.

I would stop using the 120W unit as soon as possible or don't do high performance tasks on it just now until you get a replacement to avoid damaging your unit.
