Given that this is a forum most of us see all the problems that the G73 can have, but a select few have been blessed with worry free units.
I will be taking this monstrous notebook with me to Iraq. With this thrown out I will be putting this machine through many trials and tribulations though out the next year. Since we are "suppose" to be moving out and be out soon my trip won't be as delightful as some but also easier than others since most of the fighting is Afgan.
This a roundabout way of asking if anyone out there has carried a variation of the G73 with them on any deployment and there experience with such.

IIRC, you'll want to test your temperatures with furmark and make sure they don't go over 100. Because adding +5C to ambient temps will give you a bump in GPU core temp, and you'll want to repaste before heading out if that's the case.
I've got a long list of people with 95C temp furmark burn-in tests in my sig, that's about the highest you'll want to be before going to desert-hell. -
I have been looking at the repaste threads on here and I have be working up the courage to do it. I don't want to chance messing something up with only a month left before I leave. Wish I would have found this forum sooner. However I might be able to work up to it. I there a good uniformed guide to repaste because I am leery about what I have seen on youtube and the other threads.

Whatever laptop you end up taking, I recommend turning it off whenever you're not in the barracks and leave a towel over it. That way it won't be sucking in sand all day long.
Also, since canned air will probably be a 'controlled substance', you may not be able to buy any of it at the PX. If not, just swing by the S6/commo shop every now and then - they'll probably let you grab a few blasts of air. -
Yeah, my walmart has stopped stocking canned air. It's a shame, you think that someone would develop a means of creating something similar that Doesn't make you high.

My buddy just got back from only 6 months in Kandahar and I hit his HP laptop with a blast of air - I should have filmed it... the amount of dust that spewed from every orifice was comical.
