Okay im back from some more testing, since a video of a guy playing metro underground map with an hd5870m created quite a stir in laptop gamers.

Basically in his youtube video he's getting high fps (in 40fps range i guess) underground with all settings to ultra having AO turned OFF, and AA/post AA disabled as well.

Today i tried to play it with the same settings and im happy to note that our little gtx460m delivers the same performance.

At 830/1660/1600 basically im staying in 28-35fps range outside, while 35-48 fps range inside.

    All settings to Ultra,Blur On,8xAF, but disabled AA/post AA/AO at 1080p.

If the final game will be more optimized and IF nvidia drivers will be mature enough the game will be seriously a great performer on our G53/73s.

I did a couple of screenshots althought i dont think they show much of anything:

@Cheesenium: youre on ATI or Nvidia Gpu? Both companies released an optimized driver set for BF3. Anyway disable Ambient Occlusion, you will not notice so much difference. After it, up the settings to high or ultra and restart the game.

64 players map soon, servers was on for about 30mins or something i heard.

In a surprise move, DICE apparently unlocked the 64 player Caspian Border map for PC beta players to have a go at yesterday. The server required a password that was apparently given out by one of the DICE community managers.

There is a 11.10 preview specifically for BF3 out.

Not finished but does provide some enhancements. I haven't tried
it yet so don't know the actual benefits.

My JH plays it just fine with 11.7. All high but HBAO off.

I've been playing BF3 for couple of hours, both maps (Caspian more, cause its much better :) )

Tried experimenting with various settings, resolutions, wanted to find setting which looks ok at distance (like AA) but also runs at 30+ always. After many testings, I had 900p all low, and AApos/def and AF max. Looked quite good, but i dont like playing in non-native res (thats just me..).
So i ended up with 1080p all LOW but AFx16. Getting ~30-40 in open areas/woods, and higher whist flying etc.

I really dont care that much about eye candy, and all i want from BF3 would be 1080p AA and AF max, other settings low...) But if i crank AA and AF to the max, FPS is just too low....

    11.10 here

P.S. maybe till release they will improve code/drivers a bit :)

This game is another graphic card killer
    See below
    [IMG]
Maximized settings. Overall, Nvidia cards outperform ATI cards.
Probably a good news to Nvidia owners, since the game runs on DX11.
So for G73Jw/SW owners, their GTX 460M's performance should be roughly the same as G73Jh's ATI 5870M.

By the way, could GTX 460M owners give us the average fps in different kinds of settings?? *without overclocking!!
    Thanks.

    That chart is bs.
My desktop in sig at ultra with 4xMsaa and post-AA to medium delivers 50fps outside and 74 inside.
With two gtx570 Sli over guru3d people's are reporting much higher fps.

BF3 Running very well with the newest Beta Drivers.

I can't run it in 3D Render (Stereo 3D), the option is disabled every time when I apply the Settings.

But the game is awesome and very fast. I will save a video the next time I play.

I got to try it out for a round before I came in to work. Playing on a g53SW-XA2(I5, GTX460). I just did a quick set up of the graphics. Was playing at 1080P textures on ultra everything else on high. AA/post AA off. Stock system no OC, using the beta video drivers.

ran smooth as butter for me. I didnt have fraps on to get FPS....Ill check it out tonight and play with the settings more.

P.S. ID in game is Neofite :)

    I am using ATi.

I actually like the subtle improvements SBAO, so i might leave it there, but i'll try cranking up to High without SBAO and see how it performs.

Im pretty satisfied with the performance now, as im getting 30 to 40fps even on Caspian Borders.

That has gone a little screwy if you ask me. Mine got to 100% and completed you might need to start it again if you are unable to bypass that and try and log into the game.

Had a few games but the key bindings are buggy and wouldn't let me change my mouse buttons I must be able to shoot with my space bar when using the touchpad or I get owned haha. The gameplay is gorgeous I really love the new people models they look sooo real and when people run and move you can see their entire body parts moving as well. Very impressed and look forward to the campaign.

Runs perfect didnt really FRAPS test but I had everything on high at 900p and AA/AF on etc and it was running over 40fps 11.10 825/1125 o/c 3.33ghz * 4.

So all of you people who ran out to get a new rig for this game should have trusted in the curvy G73 ;) If it runs this well on Open BETA after a few updates 60fps will be easily achieveable with high-maxed settings and I reckon even the fella's on the 128bit gimped chipsets should be able to blag it also. Well done DICE.

So battlefield runs flawlessly on my laptop in high setting but it does this bug thing where the cursor jumps straight up to the sky and just spins, if i shoot, it automatically reloads and just keep firing. This happening to anyone else?

Edit-Just to let people know i was running 1080p on ultra setting settings, I didn't use custom setting just put it on Ultra, no 3D, won't let me.

hi guys, what are your results?
I have been away a lot lately, so I recently come back and updated to 11.9 drivers, set the beta with something like:
All medium, AA off, blur off, Aniso to 4x, HBAO off, now get 30ish fps, do not know how they would act in violent scene though (1980x1080)
Do you guys have better FPS?
    EDIT
removed motion blur to get a little boost.

    That's bull mate.
First of all, in the first part if the video where you are outside it clearly shows that you're not even getting 30 fps. To really benchmark the game and reading a correct average you have to look toward the center of the map, not the sky and not the metro opening.
Then if you're getting an average of 40-45 fps underground it's normal, everyone can have that, but still that's not a real way to benchmark the game.
    I say you're getting 26-30 outside and 34-45 inside.
Caspian Border probably will score a 32-33 fps of average.
Using fraps and the builtin benchmark you can easily get an average reading outside only, since underground cannot be counted as a correct fps reading.
There are so many videos and people's claiming that bf3 performs great above 40fps by posting footage of the metro underground portion, that's cheating and it doesn't really reflect the real performance.

Hey Jonny it runs well with 11.10 preview drivers on top of 11.9 for me I was running 900p all settings on high and AF and AA on along with the XM and it runs above 40fps I would assume the 1080p is going to make the difference in what settings you can use.

It appears to be hammering my XM I know that it utilises all 4 cores but all four of mine are running at 3.33ghz and it pushes the loads up to the 60-70% it certainly makes use of it I assume because of all the physics. I am majorly impressed by the way it looks finally an Engine the runs well.

Crap I did that lol, I ran to a wall and ducted in a bush so i wouldn't get shot, still only got 30fps. :( Best thing to do is leave it on auto graphics, I'm happy I can play at all, as you can see in my sig I was using an HP that cries when you begin to install games on it.
