1 My backlit of the keyboard died after a upgrade of bios from 205 to 206,then i searched the forum, saying that the 206 version kills the backlight, so i refreshed back to 205 version, still no backlight. Any ideas?
2 I can not find power4gear software on ASUS website.(BB VERSION doesn't come with any CDs) where can i get all the softwares? I have downloaded all the things from asus support website.

I just upgrade bios from 205 to 206, keyboard backlit is fine.

    Not sure about the power4gear.

And, you updated the BIOS for what reason?

The question should be : Why did Asus release the Bios which causes such problems?

I have not found any information which could help to resolve the problem so far.
That is why I have shipped my laptop to Asus.

Exactly, How could ASUS release the retarded bios version without enough test, and it has been totally 2 months since the 206 came out, what r these guys doing? Solving the backlit bug is such a difficult thing?
I won't ship the laptop back as i actually don't use this function a lot and i can not afford the long fighting period with the carrier and the Custom Service

No, I'll stick with the question I originally asked which precedes ever getting to your question. Again, you updated the BIOS for what reason?

To make the question even easier to answer, here's a couple possible answers for which you only have to use the number in the reply.
    1. The 206 description described a fix for the problem I was having.
    2. Everyone else is using 206.
    3. It's a higher number than 205, so it must be better.

I think that's the point he's trying to make. Don't update the BIOS unless you have a problem you know the update will correct. The vast majority of users never update the bios.

I am choosing option 3 :). In my opinion it does not matter. Asus cannot release a bad software.
I used to have an Acer laptop and remember the same situation with a bios release, but look like Acer is a better company than Asus as they removed faulty bios from their servers and release a new one in very short time. Asus still keeps the 206 and allows users to install the crap.

Why wouldn't it be? It's an Asus laptop. BB just happens to be a service location.

    Bingo!

The suggested replies were optional and I was hoping to hear a really good reason. Perhaps unbeknownst to me, JJ finally got back to UncleWebb and he posted to the forum a description of BIOS 206 that said more than, "Firmware change". Well, I can hope. :)

The point I was making, as panzer06 pointed out, you shouldn't update the BIOS of any motherboard, be it desktop or laptop, unless you know for sure that it fixes the issue you are having. If you are not having any issues, most certainly do not update the BIOS and because others have, doesn't necessarily mean you won't have issues.

If enough people don't complain directly to ASUS about an issue, ASUS is not likely to find out on their own. Write them, call them, but by all means, let them know your experience with the 206 update.

And finally, please don't update a BIOS just because it has a higher number. Newer is not always better. Take a good look at ATI drivers if you need to see this simple philosophy in action.

I wish you good luck in fixing your issue.

Well said. Too often people hear about something "NEW" and rush out to install/implement the new and by implication "better" software/driver etc only to find bugs, and heartache.

I wish you well getting the word out there!

    +1 rep

Nope. Not only does your 1 yr accidental void from ASUS when you buy from BB but also all warranty clauses are through BB..its a monopoly..BB is in business obviously to make money..thats why they sell you there $200 whatever accidental warranty that comes free from asus  But newsflash, most employees at BB are a joke and you can just take it back and get a new one...when I took back my first G73 the employee didnt even check the box and swapped me a new one...I couldve taken all the ram and xtra battery out...I will be doing that should I ever need to return the unit again (which doesnt look likely as mine is running top notch - BIOS 204/LG/1066)

I mean besides having no accidental and only 1 year, it is still normal through Asus right?
