    oooooo, thanks Keith1341

    edit:

Seems well overpriced. 4gb ram? come on now!

for 1100 bucks plus tax I'd rather have the g73JH-bst7.

    I think at maybe 999 or 949 it's a good deal.

The G53SWs with SB-i7s should be out an day then. I agree though I'd much rather have my RBBX05, although I don't know for sure, I doubt the i5-2410 could out perform a i7-720qm, especially since it is limited to 4 threads, although it could be better on single threaded apps. If it was slightly cheaper it would be a great mid-range system.

    UPDATE, according to this...

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

A i5-2410 is marginally faster than a i7-720, but slower than a i7-740. So for all intents and purposes you could say they are equal but one us better at 8 threads and one is better at 4.

This makes the 53SW-BST6 acceptable, but considering $200 more (after adjusting for tax) will get you a G73SW-XA1 with up to 50% more CPU power, it will really depend on what the buyer wants. If you are playing StarCraft 2 an can use a 2630s CPU power, then get the G73SW, if you are playing BFBC2 and the extra CPU power is irrelevant then this laptop is a great deal.

Like I said man, in the $900 dollar range, I think its a bangout deal. Just upgrade the ram to 6-8gb and your ready to rock and roll.

The new sandy bridge I5's aren't bad at all, and for something more portable, I'd rather have it. I may try to catch one on a price drop if i get the money.

Wow, looking forward to the i7 version soon then.

I noticed on this one and the Best Buy G73 that they don't have the rear exhaust. Any idea why this is? I would think it would be to keep the cost down but $1,100 for this isn't cheap.

Probably Best Buy keeping their cost down and increasing profit.

What do you mean they dont have rear exhaust? My g73jh has it, and it came from best buy? I know for a fact that the bst-6/bst-7 have it as well. I am going to go see this computer today and try to get the low down on it.

Wow, stupidest question I ever heard lol no offense. Of course the dual exhaust is still there and the reason you are not seeing it is because of the picture.

I don't see any problem with the price of it, ram is cheap and you can get another 4gb ram for less than $50 bucks.

The problem I have with best buy watered down versions are the way they subsidize it by removing bluetooth, lowering resolution and removing 2yr warranty and 1 yr accidental and replacing it with the 1yr warranty which you also have with your g73jh BB version.

That was kind of my point. I didn't state it very well. I would rather spend that same 1100 bucks and get my computer. Yes I know there is a size difference.

I sometimes wish I would have gotten a g53, but then again, I love my computer.

I was actually looking to pick one of these up from BB if it had the i7-2630QM. With the i5 though, I think I may pass. I don't want to go down the G51/G60 BB road and take the chance that it won't upgrade to a quad.

Which I guess would defeat the point of getting this anyway. Getting it somewhere else with the i7 already in it, for probably a comparable price or not that much more considering the sales tax from BB would make it a moot point anyway.

LOL I thought those pics were of the back of the laptop with the screen open. Now I see that the picture is from the top with the screen closed. I think I was confused because the pic is labled "back".

@QuadCoreDV6, thats topview pic, so thats why u can see the vents directly, you can however see the outline of it from the top still.

Didn't even know bestbuy was going to get the G53SW, shame it has the 768 res. It's not too bad for gaming, but I can't stand surfing the web or doing day to day task on only 1366x768.

Not bad price though, should be nice for ppl wanting to strictly play games on the road, or will be hooking it up to external monitor anywho.

Wow, i5 for a gaming laptop, seems a little underpowered in the CPU era, hopefully Asus will change that.

actually, the i5 is better than the i7 for gaming, due to higher clocks even w/ turboboost and dual core optimization.

    I wouldn't touch this, guys.

    15.6" LED-backlit high-definition widescreen display
With 1366 x 768 resolution showcases movies and games in stunning clarity.

...is a big let down and at the price of 1099$ ...if you add around 150$ you can get the one in my Sig or wait for the 1080p version of the Asus G53SW which should float at around 1300-50$ish.

1366 x 768 is an absolute garbage screen for a laptop over 1k.

i like a 1080p resolution, however considering it uses a gtx 460m the 720p resolution is great for me because that vc will not be capable enough to run upcoming games at 1080 with full details and the i5 proc will give an extended battery life, my 2 cents

Don't forget that the GTX 460m in this model most likely comes with the 128-bit memory bus. It's performance will suffer compared to the traditional 192-bit bus on the standard 460's.

    I'm wondering about motherboard layout.
If it's the same as g53jw, it may as well have only 2 ram slots already filled with 2x2GB sodimms with one of them being well hidden and requiring full dismantle to reach it, as my own i5 g53jw.

Edit: and yes, according to specs it also has the "limited" version of gtx460m featuring only 1GB vram on a 128 bits "wide" bus.

if that is the case i think i´ll pass, i haven´t bought the g53, because it has the 1080p screen and the 720p-120 hertz screen version is too expensive, well i am a little dissapointed :( , thank you for the advice
