    Thanks.

After looking at ther reviews for both laptops, it sure seems like there are A LOT of issues people are having with both machines, but then I come here and search the forums and it seems like most people are doing OK with them.

One thing that scares the beejeezus out of me, is it seems like Windows 7 does not run well at all on the G71GX.

I'm almost thinking about going with a Toshiba 505. They have them for 999.99 at Costco. The GFX card is a 360M instead of the ATI or the 260M. It's "slightly" less powerful, but I fee like I'm splitting hairs.

Does anyone own the G71GX and run Windows 7 with the latest drivers successfully. That really seems like the best bang/buck. :D

I own a G71G-A1, and i know the video cards are different (mine has the older 9800M GS)... but i have been running Win7 for a long time with no issues... although win7 is not officially supported, the vista bloatware works with Win7 for the most part.

but honestly i wouldn't purchase a notebook that is almost 2 years old... i would look at mid-range gaming notebooks like the Toshiba you listed... at least look for something with a core i5 or core i7...

If you're going for the Toshiba just get the Refurb g73 since its GPU is ages ahead of the GTS 360M

I'd say that currently the G73 is easily the best performance to price ratio gaming laptop out there.
